Launching the International Children's Painting Competition "I Love Hanoi - City for Peace" 2025

On August 5, in Hanoi, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports coordinated with the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations to organize the launching ceremony of the international children's painting contest "I love Hanoi - City for Peace" in 2025.

The contest is held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), and the 26th anniversary of Hanoi being honored by UNESCO as a "City for Peace " (July 16, 1999 - July 16, 2025).

Attending the launching ceremony were Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department Vu Ha; Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations - People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem; President of the Hanoi Fine Arts Association Nguyen Xuan Thuy, representatives of the Embassies of Russia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Laos, Palestine... and secondary schools in Hanoi.

The International Children's Painting Contest "I love Hanoi - City for Peace" aims to propagate and educate the love of peace for Vietnamese and international teenagers and children, promoting the image of Hanoi - the thousand-year-old capital, the creative city "Cultured - Civilized - Modern". The contest encourages children to deeply express their love for the culture, history and beautiful scenery of Hanoi, their love for their homeland, their country, their love for peace and humanity, their dream of a peaceful, stable and developing world without war and poverty.

Encourage and motivate children's passion for painting and creative artistic thinking. Thereby, finding young talents to train, nurture, create a healthy playground, help children have the opportunity to exchange and learn, strengthen friendship and solidarity between Vietnamese children and international children.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, said that the contest is an opportunity for Vietnamese and international children to unleash their creativity and show their artistic talents with the theme of Hanoi - City for Peace, Creative City "Civilized - Cultural - Modern" about love for peace, people, life, beautiful nature, against war, poverty, etc.

Coming to the contest, students not only get to create paintings but also get to interact and increase mutual understanding through artistic performances and interesting questions on the sidelines of the contest," Mr. Hai emphasized.

In 2025, the Organizing Committee hopes that the Contest will continue to be an educational and meaningful art playground, where Vietnamese and international children can develop their painting talents, nurture their aesthetic thinking, and at the same time convey pure "artistic messages" about love for Hanoi, national pride, and aspirations for peace, cooperation and development.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's contest continues to accept entries from children aged 6-15 years old with content expressing love for Hanoi, homeland, dream of peace, opposition to war, poverty, promoting the beauty of nature and friendly, humane Vietnamese people. Works by Vietnamese contestants can be submitted directly to the Hanoi Cultural Center and Library (Ha Dong and Ba Trieu campuses). International contestants can send their entries to the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations.

The deadline for receiving entries is from August 15 to September 10, 2025, at two locations of the Hanoi Cultural Center and Library (7 Phung Hung, Ha Dong and 47 Ba Trieu, Cua Nam Ward). For international contestants, entries should be sent to the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (22nd floor, City Inter-Agency Area, 258 Vo Chi Cong, Tay Ho). The Closing and Award Ceremony is scheduled for September 20.
