Prosecution of suspect for molesting 8-year-old girl

On May 12, the Tra Vinh Provincial Police Department announced that the unit had just initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Thach Ngoc That (39 years old, living in Ngoc Bien commune, Tra Cu district, Tra Vinh) to investigate the act of raping a person under 16 years old. Thach Ngoc That is the person who seduced and sexually abused an 8-year-old girl many times.

According to the initial investigation results, around March 2024, That went to his friend's house in the same area to drink. Because they knew each other, M. (8 years old) also came to play there.

After drinking, taking advantage of the time when no one was around, That seduced and sexually assaulted M. and then gave her 5,000 VND; at the same time, he threatened her not to tell anyone.

When the family discovered M. was acting unusually, they asked and learned of the incident, so they reported it to the police. Upon receiving the report, the police summoned That to clarify. At the police station, That admitted to the crime and confessed that he had previously molested M. three times.

The above mentioned case of molestation of the 8-year-old girl is being further investigated and handled by the Investigation Police Agency of Tra Vinh Province according to the provisions of law.
