Since the beginning of summer, Quang Ninh has recorded severe heat waves, the demand for electrical equipment in offices, units, factories and enterprises has also increased. This is also the time when students are on summer vacation, leading to an increase in the demand for electricity in each family. Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung (Ha Long ward) said: During the school year, my children go to school almost all day during the week, so the family's electricity consumption is low. Since the beginning of summer vacation until now, I have not sent my two children to extra classes, so they are mostly at home, which means that electricity consumption has increased. With no adults at home regularly, my husband and I have to remind our children to use electricity safely, especially to unplug the power cord when not using the device, not to use the phone while charging the battery... to prevent fire and explosion. In fact, in many places across the country, in recent times, there have been many fires, causing serious damage to people and property, the cause of which is people using electricity unsafely...

In Quang Ninh, since the beginning of the year, there have been 47 fires, a decrease of 12 compared to the same period last year. However, due to the erratic weather, temperatures tend to increase, and there are many prolonged heat waves, which pose a great risk of fire and explosion. Quang Ninh is a rapidly urbanizing area, with many urban areas, apartments, restaurants, hotels, and many recreational and entertainment activities... serving tourism , especially during the peak summer tourist season, which pose a high risk of fire and explosion...

In the province, fire prevention and fighting work has recently been focused on by units and localities. The whole province currently has 1,567 models of "Fire Prevention and Fighting Safety Inter-Family Teams" and 514 public fire fighting points. In mid-June 2025, the Provincial Police organized the 2025 Provincial Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Competition "Fire Prevention and Fighting Safety Inter-Family Teams" with 13 teams representing 13 localities in the province. In the theoretical part, the athletes answered questions about basic knowledge of fire prevention and fighting and rescue work at households. In the hypothetical situation in the practice part, a fire occurs in a type of house adjacent to production and business, the athletes perform fire fighting, rescue operations such as using pliers to break the door lock, using a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire, using a gas mask to approach the fire, techniques to move victims, search and move assets, etc.

Through the Competition, the members of the “Fire Safety Inter-family Group” and the surrounding areas will be provided with knowledge and skills in handling fire and explosion situations, rescuing people and property. Thereby, helping the Inter-family Groups to operate effectively; effectively promote the principles of “4 on-site”, “5 golden minutes” in fire fighting, minimizing the number of fires and damage caused by fires in residential areas.

Currently, the whole province has nearly 300,000 hectares of forest, including special-use forests, protective forests and production forests. Of which, 80% of the forest area is at high risk of fire, mainly forests planted with flammable trees such as pine, acacia, eucalyptus, bamboo and reed.

Since the beginning of 2025, the whole province has recorded 4 forest fires, with a total damaged forest area of nearly 49 hectares. In addition, there have been dozens of fires related to fallen trees after storms, fires in the ground and areas after exploitation, with a total damaged area of up to more than 600 hectares...

The Provincial People's Committee has issued many documents with strong instructions on forest protection and fire prevention, including detailed instructions on methods of clearing materials at damaged forest sites, developing maps of key areas at high risk of fire and forest fire prevention plans... In particular, implementing the Prime Minister 's Official Dispatch No. 36/CD-TTg (dated April 13, 2025), the Provincial People's Committee issued Directive No. 03/CT-UBND (dated April 13, 2025), requesting localities to strengthen forest management, protection and fire prevention, strictly handle violations of the law on forest fire prevention; at the same time, promptly overcome the consequences and restore the burned forest area. Closely following the direction of the central government and the province, localities proactively develop response readiness plans according to the motto "4 on-site"; tighten inspection and supervision in forest areas affected by natural disasters, strictly handle acts of intentional burning and illegal deforestation... Forest owners have also proactively signed a commitment not to burn vegetation in dry weather conditions to reduce the risk of forest fires in the upcoming forest planting season.

The hot weather is forecast to continue, along with fire prevention measures of units and localities, each person needs to raise awareness and proactively implement fire prevention measures to ensure safety for themselves and the community. In particular, pay attention to regularly checking and maintaining the electrical system, using electrical equipment safely. In particular, it is necessary to select and use electrical equipment with clear origin, ensuring safety standards; do not charge phones, electric vehicles overnight, do not leave electrical equipment operating when unattended; turn off electrical equipment before leaving the house; avoid burning fires, votive papers, burning garbage near residential areas, residential areas, or flammable objects...
