On the afternoon of September 26, at the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology (Hanoi), a discussion took place between Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang and young Vietnamese people, with the theme "WIPO and the journey of creating an intellectual property ecosystem to promote innovation for the young generation of Vietnam."
This is an activity within the framework of Mr. Daren Tang's visit and working visit to Vietnam from September 25-26.
At the seminar, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh emphasized: Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation identifies science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as key driving forces for Vietnam to achieve double-digit GDP growth in the 2026-2030 period, with intellectual property as the pillar to protect and exploit creative values.
Meanwhile, Resolution 71-NQ/TW on educational and training development breakthroughs focuses on educational breakthroughs, with a focus on improving training quality, university autonomy and developing human resources for innovation. These two resolutions are closely linked.
Resolution 57-NQ/TW provides strategic direction for science, technology and innovation. Resolution 71-NW/TW complements this by building an educational foundation to nurture a young generation that understands intellectual property and innovation, creating a synchronous system from policy to implementation, helping intellectual property education become a bridge between creativity and practical application.
This is a golden opportunity for Vietnam to build an education system oriented towards innovation, where the young generation not only learns knowledge but also knows how to protect and exploit intellectual property.
Deputy Minister Hoang Minh affirmed that the seminar is a historic opportunity for Vietnam to create and develop an innovation ecosystem based on intellectual property education and training.
With a young generation full of potential, the attention of the Party and State, and support from WIPO, Vietnam can build an intellectual property culture from the roots - where each young person not only creates but also knows how to protect and commercialize ideas.
This will make innovation a real driving force, helping Vietnam achieve its goals of sustainable development, green growth and high income by 2045.
Director of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology Dang Hoai Bac shared: As a national key university in engineering and technology, intellectual property is the key to unlocking potential, promoting scientific research and turning creative ideas into reality.
The Academy is deeply aware that intellectual property is not only a legal or economic matter, but also an indispensable part of the culture of innovation, protecting the “brainchildren” of young scientists and innovators, encouraging them to embark on a journey of endless discovery.
Over the years, the Academy has encouraged students to freely innovate, turning bold ideas into potential start-up projects.
The meeting is a valuable opportunity for WIPO to share experiences, thereby opening up new horizons, igniting the flame of passion and creative aspiration in every young Vietnamese person.
At the seminar, WIPO Director General Daren Tang sent a message to the young generation of Vietnam: Vietnam possesses a “golden generation” to help the country make a breakthrough through innovation and intellectual property. The golden population is not just a number, it is a “golden energy source” in the intelligence and dreams of the young generation.
If protected and nurtured by intellectual property, that energy innovation will turn into national achievements. You are living in a period where an idea can create a business, a start-up can change an industry, do not let the opportunity of the “golden generation” pass by, seize it with creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Within the framework of the discussion, the launching ceremony of the Intellectual Property and Innovation Cooperation Alliance, consisting of 5 universities, took place. The Intellectual Property Office is the professional sponsor for the intellectual property activities of the Alliance./.
