Promotional effectiveness

Ms. Bui Thi Man - Sam Sam Company Limited (Tam Ky City) said that the biggest success when attending the fair was that the company's products were widely promoted and introduced to a large number of customers, consumers, especially tourists from near and far, the target audience identified as potential customers in the future.

“Although sales were not as expected, the product brand was known to many people when they visited the booth to learn information to connect with future purchases. I think this is the success of participating in the event” – Ms. Man shared.

Taking place from August 16 to 18 with more than 200 products of nearly 100 OCOP entities with 3 stars or more, the event displaying and introducing Quang Nam OCOP products in Da Nang City in 2024 has brought a new look to Da Nang City consumers and tourists everywhere about the quality and design of Quang Nam OCOP products. Many international tourists have stopped by to shop or learn about information at the booths.

According to Mr. Le Van Quyt (Thach Van Huong Production Facility - Nong Son), the unit does not focus on sales at the fair, mainly focusing on promoting products.

"If I sell products, I'm happy because I can cover a little bit of the travel expenses. If not, it's not a problem because my main goal is still to promote the products," Mr. Quyt said.

Preliminary estimates from the organizers show that after 3 days of the fair, the total sales revenue of OCOP entities reached about 700 million VND. In particular, the organization of the OCOP livestream sales program at the event created a strong ripple effect for OCOP products. Many entities sold quite well in just a few minutes of livestreaming.

Mr. Tran Van Noa - Head of the Quang Nam Rural Development Department acknowledged that, in addition to sales revenue, the success of the event also reflected in helping Quang Nam OCOP entities have the opportunity to introduce their products to Da Nang City residents and domestic and international tourists, thereby opening up opportunities for market development, aiming for export.

In fact, with the display location on the east bank of Dragon Bridge (Da Nang City), an area with a high concentration of tourists, the goal of bringing Quang Nam OCOP products not only to the Da Nang market but also to the world through on-site export activities has been partly realized.

Will overcome weaknesses

As of July 2024, Quang Nam has 407 products granted OCOP certificates (61 products with 4 stars, 346 products with 3 stars) of 325 organizations, units, and enterprises (43 enterprises, 118 cooperatives, cooperatives, 164 production households).

Most of Quang Nam OCOP products are well evaluated because they are all strictly screened, evaluated, tested and recognized by authorities.

Notably, Quang Nam OCOP products are diverse in types and groups of industries. Specifically, there are 302 products in the food group, 32 products in the beverage and medicinal group, 24 products from pharmaceuticals, 47 handicraft products, 2 products of community tourism services, eco-tourism and tourist attractions.

Over the past time, OCOP entities have continuously invested in designs, packaging, labels, machinery, equipment, and advanced production lines to serve production; product quality has continuously improved, ensuring food safety and hygiene.

However, at the fair, some arising issues also helped OCOP subjects to re-evaluate their products such as duplicate product types; unattractive and unattractive label designs; lack of barcodes, QR Codes or related documents on the origin and source of raw materials... making it difficult for some Quang Nam OCOP products to penetrate supermarkets and large stores, not to mention export.

In addition, another limitation that makes the fair less effective is that visual promotion on some routes has not been focused on, very few Da Nang residents know that the Quang Nam OCOP event is taking place in the area.

Besides, one of the goals of the event is to promote and introduce OCOP products to tourists and aim for export, but at the fair space there are almost no introduction boards in English or foreign languages, making many tourists not understand what event is taking place...

According to the representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam (the unit coordinating the event), the above problems will be resolved, supported, and guided by the unit for OCOP subjects in the coming time.

At the same time, it was affirmed that, above all, the fair was a great success when Quang Nam OCOP products were known to many people in Da Nang City and tourists, even the whole country, through the completely new livestream program.

“Da Nang is considered a top tourist destination, so it is also the best market for OCOP products and Quang Nam agricultural products to be consumed effectively. This is also the reason why Quang Nam OCOP products are displayed and promoted in the city this time,” said a representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam.
