Thuan An fishing village (Tam Hai commune) holds a fishing ceremony

Early in the morning, the villagers performed a worshiping ceremony at Co Bac's mausoleum, followed by a fishing ceremony - a welcoming ceremony at Bai Bac, worshiping the whale's grave (at the whale cemetery), performing Ba Trao singing, and worshiping the ancestors' mausoleum. After the ceremony, the fishermen had a New Year's meeting, wishing them all the best and preparing themselves for the new fishing season.

The fishing festival is a cultural feature of the coastal fishing village residents every time the New Year comes. Before that, on February 16 (January 19), Thuan An village organized a worship ceremony at the Lady Ngoc's tomb on Ban Than mountain and a basket boat racing competition.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tho - Secretary of Thuan An village Party Cell said that the fishing praying ceremony in Thuan An fishing village has existed for a long time, there is a whale cemetery with more than 500 graves. Not only fishermen in the village but also people from the homeland living far away always turn to the festival to pray for favorable weather, prosperity and happiness for the villagers.
