Lao Cai: 78 communes and wards benefit from Project 8

In 2025, Lao Cai province will have 78 communes and wards benefiting from activities under Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children".

The implementation of Project 8 aims to continue raising awareness, changing thinking and working methods; supporting material and spiritual life; protecting and caring for women and children, thereby contributing to the realization of gender equality goals and solving urgent problems for women and children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, towards completing the targets by 2025.

Within the framework of the project, the association at all levels implemented many activities to enhance economic empowerment for women.

Within the framework of the project, key activities will be implemented, including: Propagating and mobilizing changes in "thinking and doing" to contribute to eliminating prejudices and gender stereotypes in families and communities; harmful cultural practices and solving some urgent social problems for women and children; building and replicating models of changing "thinking and doing" to enhance women's economic empowerment; promoting gender equality and solving urgent problems of women and children; ensuring the voice and substantive participation of women and children in socio-economic development activities of the community; monitoring and criticizing; supporting women to participate in leadership in the political system; equipping knowledge on gender equality and skills to implement gender mainstreaming for officials in the political system, village elders, village chiefs and prestigious people in the community.

Communication activities are organized creatively, bringing high efficiency in propaganda work on gender equality.
