VHO - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued Decision No. 547/QD-BVHTTDL on announcing the inclusion in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List of the traditional festival: Chroi Rum Chek Festival (Phuoc Bien Festival) of the Khmer people in Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province.

Phuoc Bien Festival is a folk festival of the Khmer people in Vinh Chau town ( Soc Trang ), formed about 300 years ago.

The festival is meant to pray for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, and to commemorate the merits of ancestors who reclaimed and established the land.

Besides, it is also to thank the ocean for giving lots of fish and shrimp, thank the alluvial land for giving bountiful harvests, bringing the land and people of Vinh Chau coastal region a prosperous and happy life.

Phuoc Bien Festival in Vinh Chau town (Festival) is a long-standing form of spiritual and cultural activity, becoming an important traditional cultural heritage in the life of the ethnic communities in the area.

Through this, it shows the spirit of remembering the source of drinking water and showing the respect and gratitude of the people for the merits of their ancestors.

The festival has the unique features of the festivals at communal houses and temples in the South, attracting many classes of people, ethnic groups and many social components to participate, praying for tolerance, protection, regaining balance and faith in life, overcoming obstacles, and having faith in the future.

This is also the "thread" that connects the community, solidarity, love and mutual assistance of ethnic groups in Vinh Chau town, bringing profound humanistic values ​​to help people move towards the values ​​of truth - goodness - beauty.
