On the morning of August 30, at the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the contract signing ceremony for the "Consulting on management and exploitation of Long Thanh airport" package took place.

According to ACV, Long Thanh airport will be put into operation in September 2026, so the unit has now carefully prepared for airport management and operation.
From June 2024, ACV will implement international bidding procedures to select contractors to provide consulting services for airport management and operations.
To date, the Incheon Airport consortium has won the bid.
This consortium includes two members: Incheon International Airport Corporation - Korea and PMI Consulting Services Joint Stock Company - Vietnam.
Incheon International Airport Corporation is globally renowned for its airport management and operation consulting. PMI Company has many years of experience in the field of construction consulting in Vietnam.
"This cooperation promises to help Long Thanh airport become a strong competitive aviation hub in the ASEAN region and Asia, while contributing to enhancing Vietnam's image on the international aviation map," ACV representative emphasized.
Long Thanh airport is expected to come into operation in September 2026.
Long Thanh Airport is one of the key national projects, with a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year when all 3 phases are completed.
In the first phase, the airport will include a runway, capable of serving 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year. Long Thanh airport is expected to operate its first commercial flight in September 2026.
The operation process will use the most modern technology to improve operational efficiency and protect the environment.
The Long Thanh airport project consists of three phases, with a total investment capital of more than 16 billion USD (equivalent to more than 336,000 billion VND). Of which, phase 1 has an investment capital of more than 5.4 billion USD.
The objective of the first phase of the project is to invest in the construction of 1 runway, 1 passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year, and a cargo terminal with a capacity of 1.2 million tons of cargo/year. It is expected to be put into operation in 2026.
Phase 2 continues to invest in building an additional open-configuration runway and a passenger terminal to reach a capacity of 50 million passengers/year and 1.5 million tons of cargo/year.
Phase 3, complete items to reach capacity of 100 million passengers/year and 5 million tons of cargo/year.
