Isak is putting pressure on Newcastle to move to Liverpool this summer.

Alexander Isak's deal with Liverpool will surpass the Premier League transfer record set by Liverpool when they signed Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £116m earlier this summer.

Isak will undergo a medical on Monday before completing the move.

The Athletic reported earlier on Sunday that talks over a potential move for Isak to Liverpool were intensifying ahead of the transfer deadline.

The reigning Premier League champions had previously made a £110m bid for the 25-year-old which was rejected by the north-east club, despite previously expressing a desire to do a £120m deal.

Isak has publicly expressed his desire to leave Newcastle and has not featured in pre-season or any of the club's first three Premier League games this season.

Newcastle's stance has always been that the Sweden international is not for sale, but sources close to the matter, who are not authorised to speak publicly, say Liverpool have been pushing for a move in recent days in the belief that a deal will go through.

Liverpool spent over £250m this summer on Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni. With the addition of striker Alexander Isak, Liverpool spent over £400m in the summer transfer window. In return, Liverpool recovered around £170m from player sales.

Givemesport and many news sites close to Liverpool said that Isak will receive a salary of 250,000 pounds/week, more than twice the salary he is receiving at Newcastle. The striker born in 2000 will become the third highest-paid player at Liverpool, after two superstars Mohamed Salah (400,000 pounds/week) and Virgil van Dijk (385,000 pounds/week).
