Urgent rescue of pickup truck carrying 3 people buried on National Highway 279

At 12:15 on October 2, after more than two days of searching, the functional forces of Minh Luong commune found the location of a pickup truck carrying 3 people traveling from Nam Xe commune through the commune. Accordingly, the vehicle was stuck in a landslide at Km40+00, National Highway 279 (in Pom Khen village).

According to Mr. Dang Xuan Phuong, Secretary of the Minh Luong Commune Party Committee, as soon as the location of the buried car was discovered, the commune government mobilized forces to coordinate with the commune police to organize a rescue plan.

However, the car is currently located deep in a large block of rock and soil, with the risk of landslides above, making rescue work difficult and currently unable to reach the people in the car.

Speaking to reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Xuan Hiep - Head of Van Ban Commune Police said that the unit had sent a working group along with an ambulance from Van Ban Regional General Hospital to the scene to participate in the rescue.

It is known that the car was buried deep in the landslide but there was a large rock covering it so there is hope that the victims are still alive. To rescue the victims, the authorities mobilized 5 excavators to continuously dig and remove rocks from the landslide area so that the rescue team can approach the damaged car.

Rescue operations encountered many difficulties due to complex terrain.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 29, 2025, the People's Committee of Nam Xe commune received information from local people that at 7:30 a.m. on the same day, Mr. Hoang Van D (born in 1988), manager of Nam Tu Tren Hydropower Plant, drove a Nissan Navara pickup truck with license plate 24A-348.02 from the commune center along National Highway 279 towards Minh Luong commune and Van Ban commune. There were 2 people in the car, Mr. Hoang Duc G (born in 1990), residing in Van Ban commune, and Mr. Phung Van T (born in 1980), residing in Tu Ha village, Nam Xe commune.

At around 5:00 p.m. on September 29, the family could not contact the people in the above vehicle.
