Worried that their children will have an accident on the way to school, nearly 100 parents have not sent their children to school.

(Dan Tri) - Parents of branch 2 of Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School (Nghe An) are worried that the road to the main school is far and poses many potential traffic accidents when their children move to the main school headquarters to study.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Nhan Commune ( Nghe An ), said that on the morning of September 11, only more than 100/196 students of branch 2 came to study at the main headquarters of Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School. Nearly 100 primary school students were not able to go to school because their parents did not agree with the plan to merge branch 2 into the main school.

According to Mr. Chinh, to facilitate teaching and learning, and improve the quality of education , in the 2025-2026 school year, the locality decided to transfer all students of branch 2 to study at the main headquarters. This content was agreed upon by the school and local authorities at a meeting with parents of branch 2 in August.

However, when entering the new school year, many parents did not send their children to school.

In the petition sent to relevant levels and sectors, parents said that from where they live (old Nam Phuc commune) to Trung Phuc Cuong Primary School (located in old Nam Cuong commune), they have to go through Coi bridge intersection.

This is an intersection with a lot of trucks, traffic accidents often occur, and there are many potential risks, so parents do not feel secure letting their children go through this road to school.

Besides the long distance and concerns about the impact on their children's health, parents said they work far away and do not have time to pick up and drop off their children, while their grandparents are old and do not know how to drive and cannot take their children to school.

On the afternoon of September 10, many parents (mainly grandparents) gathered at branch 2, petitioning the local authorities and the school to reopen the school so their children could go to class.

According to Ms. Le Thi Lan, Principal of Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School, this school year, branch 2 has 196 students/5 grades, each grade is organized into 1 class, the facilities are still limited, not meeting the needs of teaching and learning.

To prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, on August 16, the school submitted a document to the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune requesting to transfer the satellite school to study at the main headquarters.

The merger into the main school headquarters will help students study in a more spacious, fully equipped, and synchronized environment, while creating favorable conditions to focus on investing in facilities, improving teaching quality, and ensuring more comprehensive management and care from the teaching staff.

When transferring from branch 2 to the main school, students have to travel about more than 1km.

“We are continuing to explain and mobilize parents to understand and send their children to class to ensure their right to go to school. Regarding parents' concerns when traveling through the Coi bridge intersection, for now, we will assign police forces to be on duty and will propose to the Provincial People's Committee to install a traffic light cluster here,” Mr. Chinh informed.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Nhan Commune also said that the locality and the school are developing a plan to organize boarding for primary school students. Having children eat and rest at school at noon ensures more safety, and parents also reduce the time to pick up and drop off their children at noon.
