A series of strange green sidewalks for cyclists for the first time in Hue

Recently, many people walking along Vo Nguyen Giap and To Huu streets ( Hue City) were surprised to see the sidewalks painted a strange blue color.

It is known that this is one of many items under the Project of the Program for Development of Type 2 Cities (Green Cities) - Thua Thien Hue sub-project (abbreviated as the Green Cities Project) being implemented.

Accordingly, the Green Urban Project includes 10 construction packages with the Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of the Program for Development of Type 2 Cities, Department of Planning and Investment of Thua Thien Hue province (referred to as the Project Management Board) as the investor representative.

Mr. Le Thanh Bac, Deputy Director of the Project Management Board, said that the contractor is currently painting the sidewalks on To Huu Street (1.9 km), Vo Nguyen Giap Street (2.1 km) and some streets in the administrative area with a total length of about 8 km for cyclists.

According to Mr. Bac, painting a part of the sidewalk green is a criterion of the Green Urban Project that was set out from the beginning. Thereby, it aims to ensure safety for cyclists, contributing to building a city of bicycle tourism - especially building a green city.

"Thua Thien Hue, Ha Giang and Vinh Phuc are three provinces nationwide implementing the Green Urban Project. Hue alone is implementing the green painting of a part of the sidewalk for cyclists. Up to now, the project has completed about 95% of the work. It is expected that by July 20, the construction unit will complete the painting and marking of the sidewalks on these routes," said Mr. Bac.

Some locals shared that, at first glance, the new paint colors on the sidewalks on the central streets of Hue City are a bit strange, but gradually they will create a friendly and clean feeling for a city rich in cultural and traditional values ​​like the ancient capital of Hue. Photo: QT
