The first Ho Chi Minh City Women's Newspaper Pickleball Tournament - 2024 officially opened and started this morning (October 26) at Lan Anh Club, with the 4.5 women's doubles and 6.0 women's doubles. While the 4.5 women's doubles matches were being played, tennis player Ly Hoang Nam appeared in the stands and watched attentively. It was only when asked that the 1997-born tennis player was cheering for his wife Huynh Ngoc Phuong Trinh on the court.

Not only did he fuel his spirit, Ly Hoang Nam also played the role of coach, constantly giving tactical advice to his wife. In the second round of the group stage, Huynh Ngoc Phuong Trinh and her teammates were behind by a huge margin, 1-10. At this moment, the Vietnamese tennis player couldn't sit still, running to the stands to cheer. At times, Phuong Trinh and her teammates used the right to consult in the middle of the match, to listen to Ly Hoang Nam's instructions.
From being behind 1-10, Phuong Trinh's pair made a spectacular comeback to defeat their opponents with a final score of 11-10. Ly Hoang Nam contributed significantly to this victory.
Ly Hoang Nam followed closely on the stage, giving advice to his wife during the consultation period.
Ly Hoang Nam is the most successful male tennis player in Vietnam to date. Thanks to his basic tennis skills, he has shown quick adaptation to the emerging sport of pickleball. Recently, Hoang Nam participated in a pickleball tournament for the first time, competing at the PPA Tour Australia - Vietnam Open 2024, held in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and had an impressive performance in the qualifying round of the Pro category (for professional athletes).
The 1st Ho Chi Minh City Women's Newspaper Pickleball Tournament - 2024 takes place on October 26 and 27 in Lan Anh Club. The tournament gathered 138 pairs of athletes (276 people) to compete in 5 events including: women's doubles 4.5, women's doubles 6.0, women's open doubles, mother-daughter doubles and husband-wife doubles.
