Mbappe misses key match for France due to broken nose

The French captain broke his nose in the opening match against Austria, after a strong collision with central defender Kevin Danso.

The medical team is quickly creating a separate mask to help Mbappe return to competition soon.

However, L'Equipe newspaper confirmed that Real Madrid's new player has not yet adapted to the new protective gear and will definitely be absent from the match against the Netherlands in Leipzig on June 21.

With both Les Bleus and the orange team winning their opening matches, this is considered the "Group D final" to compete for the top spot.

Mbappe is likely to return in the final match, when France faces Poland. This is considered positive news, because initially there were concerns that the 25-year-old striker might have to sit out the rest of the tournament.

After being taken to the hospital for examination, doctors determined that Mbappe did not need surgery. The announcement on the French Football Federation's homepage:

"Mbappe has returned to the French national team camp. He broke his nose in the match against Austria in Dusseldorf.

Mbappe will receive treatment in the coming days but surgery is not needed for now."
