TPO – Hundreds of unique bonsai and apricot trees have gathered at Thuong Bac Park (Phu Xuan District, Hue City) during the Hue Apricot Festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025.

This is the third time the Hue Royal Apricot Festival has been held during the Lunar New Year.

According to the Organizing Committee of the Hoang Mai Hue Festival 2025, this activity is one of the highlights opening a series of spring festival events within the framework of the 4-season Hue Festival.

This is also a program that contributes to the joy of Spring, with the meaning of restoring and spreading the tradition of planting and playing with apricot flowers of Hue people associated with the Yellow Apricot movement in front of the gate, building Hue into the Land of Yellow Apricot Flowers of Vietnam.

Not only limited to Hue yellow apricot players, the festival also gathers unique bonsai and apricot tree works of artisans across the country, to participate in exchanges, meetings, product promotion, and buying and selling of precious apricot trees.

At this year's festival, the Organizing Committee received more than 200 Hue apricot works to participate in exhibitions and competitions and more than 300 products displayed in the commercial area, exchanging and selling precious apricots.

The Hue yellow apricot trees appearing here cost from several tens of millions of dong to billions.

Coming here, in addition to enjoying and owning many unique works, players also have the opportunity to exchange experiences about playing bonsai and apricot trees.

Participating in the festival, Mr. Truong Cong Huy (40 years old, owner of a garden in Hue) shared that Hue apricot has a unique beauty compared to other apricot varieties in the country. The apricot works participating in the festival all have clear information about the origin and owner of the tree.

According to Mr. Huy, Hue yellow apricot has green buds, thick branches, flowers with short stems, 5 dark yellow petals, wavy edges, flat surface, petals arranged closely together, and a mild fragrance. This is the visual characteristic of Hue yellow apricot, used to distinguish other types of apricot. This is a typical ornamental plant of the ancient capital, famous for its brilliant yellow flowers and mild fragrance. The hobby of growing yellow apricot has long become an elegant cultural feature, demonstrating the sophistication and patience of the people of Hue.

This year, due to unfavorable weather, most of the Hue apricot trees have few flowers and bloom unevenly. “Hue apricot trees are often more difficult to bloom than other types of apricot trees. Hue apricot trees need warm weather for the trees to sprout. Recently, the cold air with rain and frost has lasted for a long time, so the flowers are not beautiful,” Huy analyzed.

According to many artisans in Hue, to play with Hue apricot requires passion, skill, perseverance, and experience... so that the apricot tree can sprout, grow, bud, and bloom on time, the petals will last a long time, and the regal yellow color of this apricot flower can be maintained.
