Northern region is at its peak of heat

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (May 22), in the Northeast region, there will be hot and extremely hot weather, some places will be especially hot with the highest temperature of 35-38 degrees, some places will be over 39 degrees; the lowest relative humidity is commonly 40-60%. On May 23, the heat wave will end in this area.

Also today, the Northwest and the area from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen are still experiencing peak heat with the highest temperature of 37-40 degrees Celsius, in some places over 40 degrees Celsius; the lowest relative humidity is 35-60%.

Tomorrow (May 23), the Northwestern region of the North and from Nghe An to Phu Yen will continue to experience hot weather with temperatures dropping slightly to 35-38 degrees Celsius, with some places reaching over 39 degrees Celsius.

However, the longest heat wave in the North and Central regions, lasting the past week, is showing signs of abating as the low pressure trough is being compressed and pushed south by the strengthening cold air mass in the North.

Due to the influence of the compressed low pressure trough combined with wind convergence above 1,500m, from the night of May 22-23, in the North and Thanh Hoa, there will be showers and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 20-40mm/24h, in some places over 60mm/24h.

From the evening of May 23-24, rain continued to spread from Nghe An to Thua Thien Hue with rainfall of 10-30mm/24 hours, in some places over 50mm/hour.

In addition, due to the influence of the Southwest monsoon, this afternoon and evening, the Central Highlands, the South and the southern region of the South Central Coast will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally with moderate to heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, in some places over 50mm.

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, or heavy rain in some areas that can easily cause flooding in low-lying areas.

Thanh Hoa - Thua Thien Hue

Partly cloudy, hot and sunny during the day, especially hot in some places; showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Southwest wind level 3. Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Lowest temperature: 27-29 degrees, some places above 29 degrees. Highest temperature: 37-40 degrees, some places above 40 degrees.

Da Nang to Binh Thuan

Cloudy, hot and very hot during the day, especially hot in some places, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening; in the South, sunny during the day, hot in some places, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night. Southwest wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Lowest temperature: 26-29 degrees. Highest temperature: North 35-38, some places over 38 degrees; South 32-35 degrees, some places over 35 degrees.

Central Highlands

Cloudy, sunny during the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, locally heavy rain. Southwest wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Lowest temperature: 20-23 degrees. Highest temperature: 30-33 degrees, some places above 34 degrees.

Southern Vietnam

Cloudy, intermittent sunshine during the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, locally heavy rain. Southwest wind level 2-3. Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Lowest temperature: 25-28 degrees. Highest temperature: 32-35 degrees.

Hanoi
