As of 4:15 pm this afternoon, September 30, many streets were submerged in water, including many schools. Many parents were confused and struggling to find a way to pick up their children.
At Trieu Khuc Primary School (Thanh Liet Ward), some parents brought boxes and basins to school to pick up their children.

Sharing with VietNamNet, Mr. LB (Thanh Liet ward, Hanoi ) said that this afternoon he had a "memorable experience picking up his child".
“The first time I was in Hanoi, I had to wade through nearly 1km of water to pick up my child. I had no supplies, so I had to carry my son in my arms. The road was difficult, and we had to stop and rest every few minutes. Every time a large vehicle passed by, the waves would hit me, making me feel dizzy and almost fall,” LB said.

Ms. MH (Dai Mo Ward) also shared that although her house is 4km from the school, due to many heavily flooded streets, this afternoon she decided to walk and wade through the water to pick up her child. “To ensure safety, my child and I walked very slowly, groping through the water,” she said.
In classroom chat groups, parents are constantly updating each other on the flood situation and sending each other temporary safe routes. Some leave their children at school to wait for the water to recede, some ask friends nearby to pick them up, and some wade through the water to bring their children home.

This afternoon, due to heavy rain flooding the entrances to Co Nhue 2 Secondary School (Dong Ngac Ward), the military had to dispatch specialized vehicles to transport students out of the school and to Pham Van Dong Street for their parents to pick them up.

In response to the storm, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training recommends that schools and educational institutions regularly monitor weather forecasts to proactively prevent, respond to and overcome consequences.
Units need to review and prepare plans according to the "4 on-site" principle; check the tree system in the campus, promptly handle or warn of trees at risk of falling; move assets, equipment, and documents to a safe place.
At schools in the storm's center, especially those with boarding students, it is necessary to closely coordinate with parents and authorities to ensure absolute safety for students, while preparing enough drinking water, food, and provisions for their stay at school.
In case students cannot attend class due to flooding, educational institutions must proactively develop appropriate learning methods. After storms, promptly clean and sanitize classrooms, ensure safety and prevent epidemics.
The Department also requires absolutely not to organize extracurricular activities, collective activities, especially in places with risk of flooding and landslides. Establish an information channel with parents to manage students when participating in local activities, minimizing the risks that may occur due to storms.
