Deer farming model earns billions of dong each year of the Youth Union Secretary in Ha Tinh

TPO - Not only known as the "fire-bearer" of local Youth Union activities, Mr. Nguyen Hong Tiep - Secretary of the Youth Union of Son Giang commune, Huong Son district (Ha Tinh) is also a shining example in economic development. Currently, Mr. Tiep's deer farming model is developing strongly, with an annual revenue of about 3 billion VND.

Local economic development

After graduating from Vinh University in 2018 with a degree in Economics, Nguyen Hong Tiep decided to return to his hometown to start a business and participate in local Youth Union activities. He began building a deer farming model to develop according to his family's traditional profession.

Mr. Tiep started his business path following the livestock model in May 2021. At this time, he renovated 2.5 hectares of his family's hill garden, built a system of barns including 3 large rows. With a total start-up cost of more than 1 billion VND.

Instead of raising deer in the traditional way, he started applying breeding techniques from the biological circulation model. That is, using organic bedding from peanut shells and sawdust to treat waste, reduce environmental pollution and diseases. According to Mr. Tiep, this method not only brings economic efficiency but also creates a better living environment for deer and workers.

Determining the role of breeding stock is very important, in the early days of starting his business, Mr. Tiep traveled all over the district to find and buy quality male deer. There were some breeding stock that he invested up to hundreds of millions of VND each.

From the initial model of only a few dozen deer, Mr. Tiep's farm now has more than 180 deer, including male deer for velvet antlers and female deer for breeding.

In addition, Mr. Tiep determined not only to stop at raising on the farm but also expand the model by connecting with local households and businesses to provide breeds, technical support, and create a production and consumption chain to ensure sustainable output.

Up to now, Mr. Tiep is cooperating with households in Lam Dong and Quang Binh provinces to raise a model with a total herd of about 1,000 pigs. Annual revenue reaches 3 billion VND from raising livestock on the farm combined with the model chain. Currently, Mr. Tiep's farm is providing regular jobs for 3 local workers and 7 seasonal workers.

Spreading Youth Union activities

Not only known as a young man who successfully started a deer farm model that earns billions of dong each year, Nguyen Hong Tiep is also an active and responsible commune Youth Union officer, always at the forefront of community movements.

As Secretary of the Commune Youth Union, Mr. Tiep and the Son Giang Commune Youth Union Executive Committee have carried out many meaningful and practical activities, making an important contribution to the local new rural construction. In 2024, many educational activities on Youth Union activities were organized in many creative and diverse forms.

In addition, he also directed and participated in the construction of 3 lighting lines with a total length of 1,500m, worth over 40 million VND; 3 playgrounds for children in village 1, village 5, village 8 with a total cost of nearly 60 million VND. Along with that, he mobilized people and youth union members to participate in the construction of a 2,500m long roadside paving project in village 8, with a total socialized budget of 50 million VND.

Sharing about his entrepreneurial journey, Mr. Tiep said that for young people starting a business, they need to have a clear vision and goals, dare to accept failure and constantly learn. The most important thing is to understand the field you are pursuing, grasp market trends to build long-term plans and strategies.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Tiep is an active and responsible commune Youth Union officer, always taking the lead in community movements.

In particular, according to Mr. Tiep, in the current era of strong digital transformation, young people need to understand, research and develop technology on digital platforms; need to proactively update knowledge about digital economy, e-commerce, participate in startup communities, practice sales skills and apply data in practice. “Digital economy is the shortest way for products to reach customers. Young people must always learn, practice and not be afraid of change to adapt to the market,” Mr. Tiep shared.
