
On the morning of September 18, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to organize a preliminary review of crop production in 2025, deploy the production plan for the winter crop in 2025 and the production crops in 2026 in the northern provinces.

In 2025, the rice production area is estimated to reach more than 2.1 million hectares, the average rice yield of the whole region will reach 59.2 quintals/ha, an increase of 0.5 quintals/ha compared to 2024, the total output will reach more than 12.6 million tons. The vegetable production area is estimated to reach more than 1.2 million hectares, the total output will be nearly 12 million tons, an increase of 132,000 tons compared to 2024.

For winter crops in 2024, the total value is estimated at more than 36,000 billion VND, nearly 2,700 billion VND higher than in 2023, the production value is 94.2 million VND/ha, an increase of 6.2 million VND over the same period last year.
According to the 2026 rice production plan, the expected area will reach more than 2.1 million hectares, equivalent to 2025; rice yield will be 59.2 quintals/ha, an increase of 0.5 quintals/ha; output will be more than 12.7 million tons, an increase of 124 thousand tons compared to 2025. Maintain the area of more than 400,000 hectares of winter crops in 2025 with an output of about 4.8 - 5 million tons, total production value will reach from 39 - 41 thousand billion VND.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Van Quan, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, said that the value of Hai Phong's agricultural production continued to grow and develop steadily, up 4.14% compared to the previous year. He proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment continue to advise the Government on policies to encourage land accumulation and land concentration to develop large-scale, high-tech agricultural production to improve economic efficiency. There are incentive mechanisms for enterprises producing organic fertilizers and biological products; investing in research on crop varieties that adapt to climate change.
Orientate the adjustment of agricultural planning towards ecological orientation; strictly control the conversion of agricultural land use purposes, especially important rice fields; implement sustainable farming measures, limit soil erosion and pollution. Enterprises need to take the lead in applying clean production technology, deep processing, using renewable energy; cooperate with farmers to build a green, clean, traceable agricultural value chain; develop brands, organic certification, low carbon.

Concluding the conference, Mr. Hoang Trung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, acknowledged and highly appreciated the encouraging results in crop production activities of 20 northern provinces in the past time. In the coming time, localities will continue to produce winter-spring rice to ensure the plan, productivity and output. At the end of the crop season, it is necessary to urgently direct the planting of winter-spring rice according to the crop schedule. Maintain a stable area of winter crops and fruit trees, in which it is necessary to determine a suitable crop structure to ensure output, efficiency and economic value.
Strengthen inspection, closely monitor the fields, accurately forecast the situation of pests and diseases to have timely prevention plans. Proactively provide sources of seeds, pesticides, and agricultural materials to people; strengthen inspection and supervision to prevent counterfeit and fake goods from affecting and causing damage to agricultural production.
