By June 18, Thanh Ha farmers had finished harvesting all the lychee tea. This year, Thanh Ha lychee output reached about 25,000 tons, sold at an average price of 40,000 VND/kg, farmers earned about 1,000 billion VND, down about 400 billion VND compared to last year, not including seasonal lychee sources.
This year’s lychee harvest only lasts for 1 month (previous years it took about 2 months). Due to the lack of lychees, traders do not use container trucks to buy them but mainly use small trucks. Therefore, there is no traffic jam in the district.
Thanh Ha litchi price is 40,000 VND/kg on average.
According to the assessment of Thanh Ha district's professional departments, this year's lychee output has decreased by half compared to last year, but the price is 3 times higher. Due to the scarcity of lychee, consumption is mainly domestic, accounting for about 60%; the Chinese market accounts for 25%; and the markets of demanding countries account for 15%.
This season, there are no dried Thanh Ha lychees. Farmers clean up the garden and prune the lychee trees as they harvest, focusing on helping the trees recover for a new bumper crop.
Due to crop failure, there was a time when the price of good Thanh Ha litchis in the main season sold at the garden was 85,000 VND/kg, about 60,000 VND/kg higher than last year.
This is an unprecedented high price for Thanh Ha litchi in the main crop. The reason is that this year the output of this litchi is low and it is sold on the first day of the new year, so the market demand is higher than usual.
Lychee is grown mainly in Ha Nam area. Due to unfavorable weather at the beginning of the year, the yield is low, lychee is sparse, ripens unevenly, and people do not harvest in a concentrated manner.
