I rushed into the porch. I stood there, dazed, waiting... A cool breeze crept in, landed on my hair, landed on my sunburnt face, entered my heart like sweet, intoxicating lyrics. Rain beside me, rain in the distance, white, blurring every street. Rain danced on the trellis, swaying on the clusters of royal poinciana flowers. Rain landed on my sister's hair, her soft lips after a series of dry, sunny days...
The cars trying to speed up on the street quickly stopped to find a shelter to quickly hide under. The shelter was not wide enough to cover the rain that was being chased by the wind and was lashing down. I was wet, the people taking shelter from the rain were also wet, a gentle wetness, a leisurely wetness, a sweetness that permeated the soul as if wanting to slow down time, to forget all the hustle and bustle of life that was passing by.
Under the porch, people suddenly became friendly with each other as if they had been friends for a long time. They smiled and greeted each other, happily chatting, giving each other every little bit of dry space. As if they were family, close and happy, they enjoyed together the harmonious moments of the love song that came from the summer rain, lingering and lingering...
On the other side of the street, a row of colorful makeshift umbrellas was blown up by the wind, tilted and soaked. Two young men were helping the woman selling the shop move the table full of drinks to keep it from getting wet. The shop was quite crowded, chairs were given to the elderly and children. Some young men and women happily spread their hands out to catch the rain and pat it on their faces, while a few others were busy with their smartphones taking pictures from different angles, from taking photos to filming. The shop owner was still welcoming, quickly moving things away to make room for people to shelter from the rain.
After long months of dry, hot sun, suffocating in dusty vehicle exhaust, everyone is waiting for the rain to come. In the rain, the sky and earth are cool, people's hearts are gentle, everyone wants to slow down to love more, to open their hearts, to be close, to be affectionate...
June, the weather is so strange, suddenly rain, suddenly sunshine, capricious like the personality of a teenage girl, angry but loving, loving but angry, gentle suddenly becomes arrogant... Perhaps, because the harsh sunlight takes over all the familiar corners, the first rain of the season helps soothe the streets, wash away the stuffiness, all things suddenly become fresh and joyful as if it were the inevitability of creation.
The rainy season has come again, in the way of human life, each person welcomes the rainy season with different joys and sorrows, depending on the circumstances. Whether we like it or not, the rainy season will come and last according to the immutable law of nature. We all will gradually get used to the sudden coming and sudden going of the rains like the many years of our lives.
However, every first rain of the season always brings people special feelings. For me, each rain brings me new perspectives in the city that I have been familiar with for decades. The interplay of rain and sunshine, of the earth and sky creates a gentle feeling of the city, of the people's hearts, making the scenery more poetic than ever.
