Households with damaged roofs and houses have been evacuated to ensure safety.
Previously, from the afternoon of July 19 to the early morning of July 20, Thanh Hoa province experienced showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 10-40mm. Some places recorded heavier rain such as Co Lung (89mm), Phu Le (77.6mm), Thanh Son (74.8mm). During the thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind of level 7-8 were recorded at Nga Son meteorological station and Thanh Hoa meteorological station. According to the forecast of the provincial hydrometeorological station, from July 21, Thanh Hoa sea area will have strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 8; then increasing to level 8-9, gusting to level 10-11, rough seas, waves 2-4m high. On land and along the coast, winds are forecast to gradually increase to level 6, gusting to level 7; inland, level 5-6, gusting to level 7. In particular, at the intersection of Le Loi Avenue and Hac Thanh Street, a large metal roof collapsed due to the wind, crushing many cars, causing the road to be partially blocked. Immediately after the incident, the authorities at the scene promptly took measures to divert and regulate traffic.

Strong gusts of wind also toppled many areas of crops, especially sugarcane. Thunderstorms also knocked down many trees blocking inter-commune and inter-village roads and 6 electric poles in the area.
Immediately after the disaster, the Commune People's Committee mobilized forces to coordinate with the Thach Thanh Regional Electricity Company to handle electrical problems and clear up fallen trees to ensure smooth traffic. Members of the Commune's PCTT, TKCN and PTDS Command Board were assigned to go to the area to support people in rebuilding crops, repairing houses and stabilizing their lives.
* In Thanh Quan commune, according to the report of the Commune Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention, 10/20 villages in the area were affected by thunderstorms, with total estimated damage of about 300 million VND. Of which, 3 households in Dong San village had their roofs completely blown off, 14 other households in Dong Chang, Lam Chinh, Na Ca 1, Na Ca 2, Ke Lan, Chieng Ca, Thanh Tien, Thanh Binh and Ke Manh 1 villages had their houses partially blown off. The thunderstorms also knocked down 23 propaganda billboards, 12 large trees (acacia, lat, and xà mật) and caused damage to about 3 hectares of acacia plantation.
On the night of July 19, the Commune's Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Disaster Response promptly mobilized forces to support the evacuation of people and property to safety, and cut down fallen trees to clear the road.
On the morning of July 20, military forces, police, youth union and commune officials continued to coordinate to help households re-roof their houses, clear trees, clean the environment, and stabilize their lives. By 11am the same day, the households had basically been supported to overcome the damage.
* In Phu Le commune, thunderstorms blew off the roofs of 9 households, of which 7 houses had their roofs blown off from 30% to 70%, 2 houses had their roofs blown off less than 30%. Heavy rain also caused a negative slope landslide of about 10m on the traffic route in Tan Phuc village and a positive slope landslide with an estimated volume of 40m3 of soil in Duom village, affecting people's travel.
In addition, the storm broke 215 bamboo stumps, 5 large teak trees and eroded 200 square meters of farmers' rice fields.
Immediately after the disaster occurred, the People's Committee of Phu Le commune mobilized forces to support households whose houses were damaged to overcome the damage, and at the same time coordinated with the villages to initially handle landslides.
