During the National Day holiday on September 2, fishermen in Xuan Yen commune (Nghi Xuan) were still busy going out to sea to catch seafood.

The boats start to set sail the night before or early morning and around 5-7am they return to shore one after another with holds full of fish.

Fisherman Ly Thong in Yen Ngu village excitedly said: This time the weather is nice, the sea is calm, so at 11pm, I wake up and set sail. On this trip, our boat was lucky to pull in 500kg of herring..., earning more than 7 million VND, after deducting expenses, we "pocketed" nearly 6 million VND .

On this same trip, dozens of boats also caught a lot of herring.

According to locals, this year's Independence Day, many fishermen are still taking advantage of going out to sea to earn "sea fortune". This season, they mainly catch herring, flounder, mantis shrimp and crab.

Fresh herring, flounder, crabs, and mantis shrimp are still caught in the net... waiting for people to untangle them.

After 6 hours of drifting at sea, fisherman Trinh Van Hai in Yen Loi village forgot all his fatigue because he caught nearly 10 kg of green crab. " During the holidays, people's consumption demand is high, so specialties like green crab are expensive. Each kg currently costs 250 - 270 thousand VND, after deducting expenses, I earn more than 1.5 million VND " - Mr. Hai expressed

For fishermen in coastal areas, holidays are even more motivating to go to sea because the demand for seafood consumption increases, without worrying about being forced down by traders.

Ms. Hoang Thi Huong in Xuan Yen commune - a person who specializes in purchasing seafood to sell to small markets in the district said: "During the 2-day holiday, I bought nearly 200 kg of various types of seafood, mainly herring, crab and mantis shrimp... These products are currently very expensive because they are fresh and delicious, and purchasing power increases during the holiday.

After each day's fishing trip, Nghi Xuan fishermen repair their boats, prepare fishing nets, etc. to continue pushing the waves and going out to sea.
