Focus on overcoming
After storm No. 10 (Bualoi) passed, the entire Ha Tinh Education Sector has been working hard to overcome the consequences with the highest determination to quickly bring students back to school and stabilize teaching and learning.
This morning, many schools in Ha Tinh have returned to normal teaching activities.

In Thanh Sen ward, as soon as the storm passed, the recovery work at educational facilities was focused. With the spirit of "All for beloved students", teachers quickly cleaned up trash, collected fallen tree branches... to restore a safe and clean learning environment in the fastest time, ensuring that students could return to class soon without any interruption to the program.
On the morning of September 30, all students at all levels in the area returned to school. Boarding activities at preschool and primary levels were also reorganized afterwards.
“As soon as the storm passed, all the teachers rushed to clean up. We identified this as our top priority. The goal is not only to restore the facilities but also to ensure absolute safety for students, from the electricity and water systems to the surrounding environment,” informed Ms. Tong Thi Thanh Binh, Principal of Nam Ha Primary School.

At Thach Ha Kindergarten (Tran Phu Ward), although the damage was not great, the work of protecting property, checking for damage and cleaning up was carried out very methodically. Ms. Vo Thi Hue - Principal of the school shared: "As soon as the weather stabilized, all teachers and local support were present to overcome the consequences, clean up fallen trees, clean classrooms, and ensure a safe and clean environment for students to return to school. Although the boarding equipment was not affected by the storm, the teachers washed and dried it to ensure hygiene when the students returned to school."
Full of difficulties
However, not all places can easily overcome the damage caused by natural disasters. In Thach Khe commune (Ha Tinh), the storm caused severe damage to the school system. Up to 8 educational facilities were seriously affected, notably Thach Khe Primary School and Dinh Ban Secondary School, with the roof of the yard completely collapsed, the roofs of the level 4 houses were blown away, and the administrative building was severely damaged.

In addition, local kindergartens were not spared the impact: Dinh Ban Kindergarten (two schools in Vinh Son and Truong Xuan villages) had its playground roof collapsed, its fence collapsed, and many outdoor equipment damaged.
Thach Hai Kindergarten had a large tree fall, the playground and part of the corrugated iron roof of the school buildings were destroyed. The same situation also happened at Thach Khe Kindergarten and many other primary schools such as Thach Hai Primary School, Dinh Ban Primary School. Le Hong Phong Secondary School also had the roof of the level 4 building blown off and the corrugated iron roof connecting the buildings collapsed.
Despite facing numerous difficulties, the work of overcoming the consequences is being vigorously implemented. Local authorities have mobilized militia, police, organizations, teachers and parents to participate in the initial cleanup and recovery.
Mr. Tran Quang Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Khe commune said: "As of the morning of September 30, only 330 students of Thach Hai Primary School have returned to school. The remaining schools suffered heavy damage, we are continuing to mobilize forces and means to support the school, especially to handle collapsed corrugated iron and concrete roofs."

At Mai Phu Primary School (Mai Phu Commune, Ha Tinh), the scene after the storm left many people heartbroken. Ms. Vo Thi My Tan - Principal of the school, said that on the morning of September 29, when she entered the school yard, she was almost speechless when she witnessed the corrugated iron roofs and concrete slabs of all 27 classrooms blown away, ancient trees broken, and the scene devastated.
“We were very confident when we were preparing to welcome the inspection team to certify the school as a standard school, but the storm has taken away all that confidence. The students’ education will soon stabilize again, but the physical facilities will be very difficult to restore because most of the people here are still in difficult circumstances. We just hope that there will be more attention and investment so that the school can be more stable during the rainy and stormy season,” she said with concern.

In order for schools to quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters and stabilize teaching and learning, the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh has just issued a document requesting that units urgently review, compile statistics, update damages into the online reporting system, report in writing and propose temporary teaching and learning plans for schools that cannot recover immediately.
Schools are also directed to proactively coordinate with local authorities to repair, disinfect, supplement books and learning equipment and support students in difficult circumstances affected by natural disasters. The reception and distribution of relief goods, if any, must also be carried out fairly, transparently and to the right target.
According to preliminary statistics, 412 educational establishments in Ha Tinh province suffered damage, with a total estimated loss of VND428.95 billion. Of which, 359 preschool, primary and secondary schools were affected (about VND395.75 billion in damage), 40 high schools (about VND26 billion in damage), and the rest were vocational education centers, continuing education centers, and secondary and college schools.
