In Thien Nhan commune, Mr. Nguyen Khac Tham said that 3 greenhouses with a total area of 3,000 m² had their roofs completely blown off, of which one greenhouse collapsed. The initial estimated damage was half a billion VND. This is the second time in less than a month that his family's production facility has been affected by a storm.

“Less than a month, two consecutive storms. I had already secured and reinforced the house, but when the storms hit, I was helpless. All my capital went down with the storms,” said Mr. Tham.

The situation is similar at Hung Long Cooperative, Than Linh Commune. After the damage of about 1 billion VND caused by storm No. 5 to tens of thousands of melon plants, the Cooperative hastily repaired and hired technicians from Hai Phong to rebuild the greenhouse. However, storm No. 10 hit, causing the entire 1,000 m² of greenhouse to collapse and another 4,000 m² to lose their roofs. Cooperative Director Bui Dinh Hoi estimated the latest damage at about 1 billion VND. "After two storms, both capital and production were considered empty-handed," said Mr. Hoi.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Nam, Dai Hue commune, is also facing difficulties when he had just paid nearly 50 million VND to the roofer, but before he could plant the seeds, the storm hit, blew away the net roof and broke the steel frame. “In 10 years of high-tech agriculture , I have never witnessed such terrible damage as this year. Storm after storm, I don’t know when I will recover,” Mr. Nam shared.

Although there are no complete statistics, actual inspections show that most greenhouses have suffered damage. In the light cases, roofs are blown off, crops are flooded, and fruit falls; in the severe cases, they collapse completely, unable to be repaired. This damage poses a big challenge to high-tech agriculture - a direction that requires large investment costs.

Greenhouse owners are now expecting attention and support from the State and authorities at all levels, not only in terms of funding but also in fundamental solutions to adapt to climate change.
