On July 6, the leader of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued Decision No. 2208/QD-BVHTTDL announcing the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for My Thien pottery craft, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province.
According to this decision, My Thien pottery is classified as a “Traditional Craft” and officially becomes part of the national intangible cultural heritage. This is a worthy recognition for a craft village with a history of hundreds of years, closely associated with the cultural, spiritual and livelihood life of many generations of local people.

My Thien pottery is famous for its household ceramic products, worship ceramics and traditional building materials, which are completely handcrafted and fired in wood kilns. Each ceramic product here shows sophisticated techniques, rustic patterns, and carries the distinct identity of Quang Ngai . According to artisans, to create durable and beautiful products, the craftsman must understand the characteristics of clay, shaping techniques, firing temperature and ceramic glaze treatment process.

The recognition of My Thien pottery as a national intangible cultural heritage not only affirms the historical and artistic value of the craft village but also opens up great opportunities in preserving and promoting heritage values associated with tourism development and community economy . The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, the cultural management agencies of the province and relevant organizations and individuals to be responsible for protecting and promoting heritage values in accordance with the provisions of the law on cultural heritage, contributing to the construction and sustainable socio-economic development in the locality.
