RT reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry said on October 20 that Foreign Minister Lavrov had a "constructive discussion" with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on how to implement what Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump had previously agreed upon.
The conversation comes after President Putin and President Trump had a phone call last week, in which they discussed potential ways to resolve the Ukraine conflict.

Following a phone call last week, the Kremlin and the White House both confirmed that the two Russian and US leaders had agreed to hold a summit in Budapest, Hungary, in the near future to further discuss paths towards a peace deal.
Russian, US and Hungarian officials later confirmed that preparations for the event were underway. Lavrov and Rubio, who are expected to decide on the summit date, could meet in person this week, as early as October 23, the unnamed source said.
Russian and US officials added that the summit could take place within two weeks. President Putin's aide, Yury Ushakov, said preparations were underway "without delay".
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto wrote on Facebook on October 17 that preparations for the Russia-US summit were "in full swing."
