Promoting the prestige, experience and intelligence of the "old tree" generation, participating in Party and government building is an important content in the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" launched by the Association of the Elderly. In recent times, the Association of the Elderly in communes and towns in Dan Phuong district has stepped up propaganda, dissemination and mobilization of cadres and members to continuously study, raise awareness and set good examples in implementing the Party's directives and resolutions, policies and laws of the State, and local regulations; contributing ideas to build draft laws, Party Congress documents, socio-economic development plans, and implementing local political tasks.

In the meetings with voters and National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels, the NCT frankly raised existing and pressing issues in the locality, promptly reflected the opinions and aspirations of the people; at the same time, advised on solutions to overcome difficulties. Thereby, contributing to building an increasingly clean and strong political system.

Despite their advanced age, the Party and the people have trusted and elected them. Regardless of their positions, the "tall trees and big shadows" still play an exemplary role and fulfill their tasks well. Currently, the whole district has 1,731 elderly people working as Party cell secretaries, village chiefs, heads of front work committees, and heads of mass organizations. The elderly are always loyal and have absolute trust in the Party's leadership; that trust is demonstrated by their exemplary behavior in activities and life. At the Conference to commend outstanding elderly people participating in building the grassroots political system in the period of 2019 - 2024, 16 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the District People's Committee.

According to statistics, the whole district has 5,843 elderly people directly participating in production and business; 261 elderly people own farms and businesses, creating jobs for thousands of workers. Despite their old age, the elderly are always seeking to learn, dare to think, dare to do, constantly innovate, promote their potential in capital, technology, and experience in management and labor. Many elderly people have achieved outstanding results, have been honored and rewarded by all levels and sectors, and are exemplary models for their children and the community to follow... Joining hands to build cultural families, model families, the elderly encourage their children and people to practice a civilized lifestyle, eliminate backward customs, and practice a new lifestyle in weddings and funerals. According to reports, every year in the district, 98% of elderly families achieve the title of "Cultural Family".

Responding to the movement "All people join hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", cadres and members of the Elderly Association mobilized their families, descendants, and clans to donate 868 square ^meters of land, contribute 18,629 working days, and support 1.17 billion VND to build inter-village roads, build cultural houses in villages, hamlets, and residential groups; and clear the land for the Ring Road 4 Project - Capital Region. From there, it contributed to creating a new, fresh look in all the villages of Dan Phuong.

Mr. Do Xuan Hung, Chairman of the District Elderly Association, said: “In the coming time, the Association will continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, diversify the forms of gathering members, improve the quality of activities, and effectively carry out the work of protecting, caring for and promoting the role of the elderly. Focus on building a strong Association organization, proactively advising and proposing to the Party Committee and the government policies, solutions on the work of the elderly in the locality.
