Consumers need to be responsible and join hands to push back the problem of counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung (Long Xuyen ward) has a habit of researching through comments and reviews from doctors and experts before buying cosmetics. Recently, she planned to buy a skin cream from a famous brand, but was still hesitant about the price (more than 1 million VND). Searching on Shopee, she was surprised because there were hundreds of shops selling the above product, the price difference was quite large, some places were only 1/5 of the genuine price. It is worth mentioning that the cheap places have sold thousands of orders, with hundreds of "5-star" reviews from customers.
Nowadays, the demand for online shopping is increasing rapidly, it is very easy to find and buy any product on e-commerce platforms and social networking platforms. People who are confident with basic knowledge of consumer shopping like Ms. Nhung sometimes doubt themselves: "The sales pages use videos and clips of doctors and dermatologists posted in the product post, even Shop Mall (certified by Shopee as a genuine, reputable and quality shop) is not sure to buy the right quality product".
Recently, there have been a series of cases of counterfeit and fake goods being discovered and published in the press, making consumers more vigilant after each online order. Many people were shocked when they heard that their "idols" or long-time fans on Tiktok were "warehouses" producing counterfeit and poor quality goods. This situation shows that a segment of consumers put their trust in the seller rather than paying attention to the product, information, licenses, quality declarations, etc. Others may be skeptical because the product's price is cheap, but they still console themselves that it's okay to be a little cheap and have a little low quality, but the bad luck is probably not their turn!
Ms. D.MD (Vinh Xuong commune) is an example. Her whole neighborhood admires and is a "regular customer" of cosmetics from Tiktoker Quynh Nhu. "She has some funny clips and is very active in charity work. I never thought she would sell fake products to deceive people. After this incident, I realized that on the internet, there are many products priced from only a few tens of thousands of dong to millions of dong. The sellers rely on their fame, polish their names with stories about life, preach morality, help the poor... To protect yourself, you have to watch the news, grasp more information, and be more alert," Ms. MD shared.
In the past, consumers could easily accept clothes, shoes, perfumes that imitated famous brands, because there is "demand" so there is "supply". But now, the story of consumption is in a different situation, fake, counterfeit, poor quality goods are everywhere and extended to food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, accessories. Not only do external items affect the quality of life, but things put into the body, trading health, even life... are things that cannot be taken lightly anymore. Even the concept of "you get what you pay for" is still not sure to exchange for the quality that consumers are expecting.
Consumer confidence is further shaken when even reputable places such as pharmacies, large stores, supermarkets, etc. appear to have poor quality goods. According to the Prime Minister 's Directive on strengthening the prevention and control of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the new situation, the authorities are determined to fight against counterfeit goods according to the motto "handling one case to warn the whole region, the whole field" and "no forbidden areas, no exceptions". This task will not only be promoted during the peak month (from May 15 to June 15) but will be carried out throughout the year, long-term.
Recently, people have been very interested in following this issue. Milk for children, medical alcohol, medicine, candy, fish sauce, MSG... to cosmetics, fertilizers, rice, plant varieties, consumer goods... All are closely related to daily life, high consumption quantity, if not controlled, the most damaged people are consumers. "I strongly support the State in the fight against counterfeit goods. At the same time, it is necessary for the functional sector to strengthen inspection, control, and handling of violations; the law must be strong enough to deter acts of assisting in the introduction of counterfeit goods, fake goods, and poor quality goods to the market" - Mr. Nguyen Van Huan, a retired cadre in Chau Doc ward expressed.
It is worth noting that currently there are some "experts" on the internet who take advantage of people's confusion, sharing articles distinguishing genuine and fake goods, giving instructions on healthy and green living (unproven) to avoid dependence on industrial goods. Some individuals introduce traditional medicine, herbal medicine, cure-all medicine... to attract views, taking advantage of consumers' confusion to continue selling goods in other fraudulent forms. Therefore, people need to be alert and proactive in the face of sophisticated tricks, avoiding becoming victims and being led from one scam to another.
