This year, coffee growers in Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province are very excited because they have had a good harvest and good prices.

This result comes from the change in people's farming methods, towards growing agroforestry coffee, which is environmentally friendly, prevents soil erosion, and gradually improves the quality of coffee to meet the export market.

Currently, coffee gardens in Huong Hoa district are red ripe, this year's yield is very high, some households reach 25 tons/ha. The current selling price is also from 15,000 - 17,000 VND/1 kg. Huong Hoa people can earn hundreds of millions of VND/ha.

Although it is just the beginning of the coffee season, in many coffee growing areas in Huong Hoa district, people have gathered to harvest in large numbers. Unlike previous years, this year people are harvesting according to standards to achieve high prices.

In 2024, the coffee growing area of ​​Huong Hoa district will be about 3,700 hectares, with an initial output estimated at more than 4,000 tons of beans, an increase of more than 500 tons over the same period. Right from the beginning of the season, many solutions have been implemented by the Huong Hoa agricultural sector to help coffee growers feel more secure.

Mr. Hoang Dinh Binh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri said: "Before the 2004 coffee crop, the department advised the district People's Committee, coordinated with functional departments, established an inspection team on purchasing and processing coffee, ensuring over 90% ripeness, increasingly improving the efficiency and brand of Khe Sanh coffee".

"The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province has also actively worked with businesses and cooperatives in Huong Hoa district. Accompanying businesses, supporting businesses in investing in machinery and equipment for processing. Connecting with businesses and cooperatives to sign contracts for product consumption, ensuring stable prices for producers", said Ms. Nguyen Hong Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Tri province.

To produce sustainable coffee, Quang Tri province is guiding people to produce specialty coffee, high-quality coffee, meeting export needs, gradually affirming the Huong Hoa coffee brand in the following years.
