Picked up a stone while walking, a man changed his life overnight

In 2018, an unnamed man in Australia was walking around a gem mining site when he accidentally kicked some pebbles. Suddenly, a blue stone caught his attention because of its special color. The man picked it up and realized it was a sapphire.

Surprisingly, this sapphire was a rare multi-colored type, weighing up to 141 carats. According to the valuation at that time, this stone was estimated to be worth about 30,000 USD (nearly 700 million VND). This was a valuable gift "falling from the sky" that helped the man change his life overnight.

Peter Grigg, the mining site’s tourism development officer, said the man’s good fortune was a combination of factors. “There had been a significant amount of rain in the area, which may have caused the stone to rise to the surface,” he said.

Several sapphires have been found in the area, but this 141-carat stone is the first to be found. The lucky man said he is not in a hurry to sell the sapphire, but is waiting for a higher price.
