Many opportunities for Vietnamese nurses to work in Germany

In 2023, Germany will have about 1.8 million nurses. The number of nurses has been increasing continuously due to the increasing demand for care. Meanwhile, Vietnam has 182 nursing training facilities, with nearly 20,000 graduates each year. The nursing workforce not only meets domestic needs but also meets the needs of working abroad, including in Germany.

That is the information given at the information sharing workshop on "Needs and prospects for nurses studying and working in the Federal Republic of Germany" recently held in Hanoi .

The workshop attracted the participation of representatives of Departments and Bureaus of the Ministry of Health , the German Nursing Association, nursing homes in Germany, nursing training schools in Vietnam, nursing recruitment companies in Germany and Vietnam, and over 700 delegates attending online at 220 connection points.

Nursing is an important human resource in patient care services. The lack of nurses in medical examination and treatment facilities will affect the quality of patient care. Currently, many countries in the world are facing a nursing shortage crisis in medical facilities such as Japan, Germany, Canada, etc.

Sharing at the workshop, the representative of the German Nursing Association said that by 2023, Germany will have about 1.8 million nurses. The number of nurses has increased continuously due to the increasing demand for care. In hospitals, about 60% are professional nurses, 30% are care assistants. In nursing homes, 47% are professional nurses, 48% are care assistants.

Representatives of the German Nursing Association predict that by 2049, Germany will need between 280,000 and 690,000 nurses, both professional and assistant.

According to Master Pham Duc Muc, President of the Vietnam Nursing Association, the shortage of nurses is happening globally, especially in a society with an increasing elderly population. Currently, the country has 182 nursing training facilities, with nearly 20,000 students graduating each year. The nursing human resources not only meet domestic needs but also meet foreign needs.

“However, the demand for nursing staff in medical facilities is very limited, leading to the lack of jobs for nurses after graduation. With the current scale of recruitment - training - employment in the country, Vietnam has enough nursing staff to work abroad in countries such as Germany, Japan, Taiwan (China)…”, Dr. Pham Duc Muc affirmed.

According to Dr. Lai Vu Kim, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Nursing Association, Deputy Chief of Office of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Health, the current State policy is encouraging the use of labor resources after returning from working abroad because they have good foreign languages ​​and expertise due to studying and working in countries around the world.

Sharing information after a business trip and survey in the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Pham Van Tac, Vice President of the National Medical Council, said that Vietnamese nurses in Germany have a solid foundation of professional knowledge, good skills, are hard-working and have high opportunities for career advancement. However, the biggest barrier is language, followed by differences in culture, customs as well as regulations on administrative procedures and German laws, each state also has different points...

Within the framework of the Workshop, there was also a Signing Ceremony between the Vietnam Nursing Association and Vicat Global Limited Liability Company on implementing the GaVic Project in converting nursing degrees in Germany so that nurses have more job opportunities in the Federal Republic of Germany.
