WIRED magazine reported that Biden's re-election campaign staff did not receive any official information about Biden dropping out of the race until nearly 20 minutes after the announcement appeared on social media.

We are grateful to be a part of this team with all of you. More information will be coming," according to an email sent to staff by Biden campaign managers O'Malley Dillon and Julie Chavez Rodriguez.

The email was sent at 2:03 p.m. local time, with a link to a statement posted by Mr. Biden on social network X 17 minutes earlier.
