On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Deputy Minister Ho An Phong sent congratulations on the success of the Lao Cultural Week in Vietnam.
Emphasizing the “Vietnam-Laos spirit of overcoming the sun and rain” and the aspiration for sustainable development, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong affirmed that cultural, sports and tourism cooperation between the two countries has a long tradition and has brought about practical results. Vietnam-Laos culture has a deep exchange. The Vietnamese people always love and cherish the rich identity of Lao ethnic groups.
The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the organization of this Cultural Week, considering it a special milestone, contributing to strengthening solidarity between the two countries.
Within the framework of the Cultural, Arts and Tourism Cooperation Plan for the 2021-2025 period, the two sides have coordinated to implement many meaningful activities such as the Vietnam Cultural Week in Laos, the Lao Cultural Week in Vietnam, the Cultural, Sports and Tourism Exchange Festival in the border area, the Vietnam-Laos Sculpture Creation Camp, etc. These programs contribute to fostering friendship and consolidating the special solidarity between the two peoples.

Vietnam and Laos are close neighbors with a long-standing, loyal and close traditional relationship. In the spirit of close cooperation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Laos maintain the rotation of organizing the Cultural Week every year. This is an opportunity to honor solidarity, promote heritage, traditional arts and enhance understanding between the people of the two countries.
In an exchange with Laos, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned by the Party and State to build the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park in the capital Vientiane. The project, which covers an area of over 30,000 square meters in Xaythany district, is a vivid symbol of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation. The Ministry is directing the urgent implementation to hand over to Laos before December 2025. This is a precious gift that the Party, State and people of Vietnam send to Laos.
At the same time, the Ministry also improved and enhanced the operational efficiency of the Vietnam Cultural Center in Vientiane and proposed to establish the Mekong Tourism Center in the capital Vientiane. In the context of many world uncertainties, the Vietnam-Laos relationship has always accompanied and supported each other to overcome difficulties.

In heritage cooperation, on July 13, 2025, UNESCO recognized Hin Nam No National Park (Kham Muon, Laos) as a World Natural Heritage, sharing the border with Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park (Vietnam). This is the first cross-border natural heritage of the two countries.
In August 2025, Laos recognized the "Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail on Lao soil" as a national historical relic, recognizing the great role of the strategic route in the resistance war for national liberation of Vietnam and the Lao revolution.
Cooperation activities in culture, tourism and heritage continue to affirm the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, while expanding opportunities for sustainable development for both peoples in the new period.
Deputy Minister Ho An Phong affirmed that the cultural, sports and tourism agencies of Vietnam and Laos closely coordinate in the work of preserving and promoting heritages recognized by UNESCO. Achievements at major international cultural forums affirm the common victory of the two countries. In the coming time, the two sides need to continue to strengthen investment cooperation, exploit sustainable heritage, build a common development mechanism, thereby contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of both countries.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the need for more initiatives and ideas to turn common heritage values into bright spots that are competitive in the world.
Expressing his appreciation for Vietnam's important contributions to the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States, Lao Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Darany Phommavongsa thanked the warm welcome during his visit and hosting of this Cultural Week.
She affirmed that the two Ministries have been, are and will continue to closely coordinate in many fields: organizing visits, exchanging expertise, attending international forums, publishing literary and musical publications, and expanding exchanges in many fields.
During the period 2021-2025, especially from 2024, the Vietnam Cultural Center in Laos will coordinate to organize many unique art programs such as "Spring Homeland - Dear Vietnamese Language" for the Vietnamese community in Laos; the play "72nd Petition"; Hung Kings' Commemoration Ceremony; art photo exhibition on Lao New Year; the theme "Fatherland on the Shore of Waves". Many programs are associated with important events such as the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, 70th anniversary of Geneva Agreement. In September 2024, a Lao delegation led by Deputy Minister Vansy Kouamoua attended the program "Tourism, Cinema and Sports - Proud of Vietnamese Identity" in Binh Dinh. In December 2024, Vietnam organized the Vietnam Cultural Week in Laos.
In May 2025, the Vietnam Cultural Center in Laos coordinated with the Vietnam Drama Theater, Hanoi Circus and Variety Theater, the Association of Vietnamese in Laos and Thailand and Lao partners to organize an art program to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, with the theme "Uncle Ho, a boundless love", "He is the belief in victory" in Laos and Thailand.
In addition, the Lao Public Security Art Troupe and Lao National Circus coordinated to stage the program "Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh Era", aiming to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2025).
In the tourism sector, Vietnam has ranked second for many years in the markets sending tourists to Laos; conversely, Laos is among the top 15 markets for Vietnamese tourism.
In the first eight months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed more than 134,000 Lao visitors, an increase of 33.1% over the same period in 2024; in the first six months of the year, Laos welcomed nearly 589,000 Vietnamese visitors, an increase of 15%. Promotional and advertising activities are regularly deployed, contributing to enhancing the image of the destination and promoting cooperation between businesses of the two countries. Based on signed agreements and cooperation plans, the number of visitors exchanged between the two countries maintains a stable growth rate.
Lao Cultural Week in Vietnam 2025 takes place from October 1 to 7 in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa. The opening art program of Lao Cultural Week in Vietnam takes place on the evening of October 2 at the Hanoi Opera House.
