The exhibition is open until March 12, displaying over 40 single photos and photo series, selected from thousands of photos taken by photographer Nguyen A in Lang Nu village (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province ) over a period of about 5 months.

Photographer Nguyen A said that he came to Lang Nu village for a long time after the terrible flash flood. There were so many emotions left in him when witnessing the stories full of deep "mutual love", the precious "helping hands" gestures for the people of Lang Nu village... That's why, on the occasion of the recent Lunar New Year, he asked to stay in Lang Nu, with the people that he and all Vietnamese people love.

Photographer Nguyen A shared that to get the photos in the book, he traveled back and forth from Ho Chi Minh City to Lang Nu 11 times, over a period of nearly 5 months. Although the distance was long and the travel was very difficult, he always told himself to try his best, with the thought of how to preserve as many images of what was happening here, to tell everyone about a Lang Nu that had gradually overcome adversity, in the love of thousands of hearts from all over the country.

On this occasion, photographer Nguyen A also launched the photo book "Rising for Lang Nu Village" to raise funds to support the reconstruction of the lives of the villagers. The photo book "Rising for Lang Nu Village" is 200 pages long, including more than 200 photos in 5 parts: "Unforeseen days of pain", "Fragile hope and the love between the army and the people in the storm and flood", "Warm sharing of human love", "After the rain, the sky is bright again" and "The first spring". Some of the outstanding photos are displayed in an exhibition.

According to photographer Nguyen A, this book launch and photo exhibition is an opportunity for him to send everyone a message: Let's give love and hope together. All difficulties will be overcome, let's join hands to make life better. He also hopes that this message will spread to many hearts, so that we can accompany and do meaningful work together, helping the people of Lang Nu overcome difficult times.

Accompanying photographer Nguyen A to the book launch in Hanoi were five witnesses from the serious landslide in September 2024. They all lost many family members. Many suffered psychological trauma that was difficult to overcome.

Among those present at the event was Ms. Dang Thi Nich, who lost her mother-in-law, husband and two children. She emotionally recounted that at first she hesitated to accept the invitation to the event because she was afraid she would not be able to control her emotions and would have to remember the loss of her fellow villagers as well as herself.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang - Chairman of the Marie Curie School Board, at the launch of this special book, mentioned Mr. Hoang Van Thoi. Mr. Thoi is a case of losing his mother, wife and 3 small children that has been widely spread on social networks. Adopting 22 children from Lang Nu to support and provide for them, Mr. Khang also suggested that Mr. Thoi also adopt 22 children to ease his sadness, but he refused.

“I suggested that he accept being the foster father of the children to ease his loneliness. Thoi was moved but could not accept because he could not control himself when he saw the children. Many times after that, I went to Lang Nu but could not meet him because he avoided everyone. Being left alone, situations like Thoi and Nich are very miserable. They can come here today, which is a great effort,” Mr. Khang shared.
