Veterans at the forefront of the new frontier

Having been a special forces soldier participating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, returning to his hometown, veteran Nguyen Gia Khiem in Phat Tich commune has constantly trained and strived to develop the economy . In 2012, he established Phat Tich Construction Limited Liability Company. Mr. Khiem shared: "In the construction field, the most important factor is to construct according to the design, ensuring the quality of the project and labor safety."

In recent years, his company has won bids for many projects such as: Yen Phong 1, 2 High School; Ly Thuong Kiet High School; Gia Binh General Hospital, Tien Du General Hospital, Provincial General Hospital; Provincial Center for Disease Control; Provincial Military Command; Bac Ninh Medical College; Tran Quoc Toan Primary and Secondary School... Each year, the company earns a revenue of more than 90 billion VND, pays more than 4 billion VND in taxes, and has profits of billions of VND. Up to now, the company has created stable jobs for more than 100 employees (70% of employees are children and grandchildren of veterans) with an income of 7-25 million VND/person/month.

To retain workers, veteran Nguyen Gia Khiem takes care of them, ensuring them with social insurance, health insurance, holiday bonuses, etc. With many efforts, over the past 5 years, veteran Nguyen Gia Khiem has continuously achieved the title of "Excellent production and business veteran" at the Central level.

In 1995, veteran Ngo Van Chien in Van Mon commune rented and renovated more than 2,000 square meters of local land to build a comprehensive livestock farm. Initially, his family invested more than 40 million VND in raising pigs, geese, and ducks, then switched to raising egg-laying chickens and hatching eggs, providing breeding stock for local people and neighboring areas. Up to now, Cuong Thinh Livestock Cooperative, of which he is the Director, has 4,000 chickens of Egyptian breed, Luong Phuong hybrid Ho, and Mia hybrid Luong Phuong. The egg-laying chicken farm is built according to a closed model with a livestock waste treatment system.

The typical examples of good economic performance have affirmed the pioneering and exemplary role of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” on the new front. They are always dynamic and creative in labor and production, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development goals in the locality.

Veteran Ngo Van Chien said: “To produce many high-quality chicken breeds, I apply technology in crossbreeding. For chickens to grow well, we must choose suitable food, combine with cleaning the barn, vaccinate to prevent and fight diseases...”. In addition, he invested in 9 incubators, 3 hatchers, on average every 4 days, producing a batch of nearly 20,000 chickens of all kinds, serving people in all the northern provinces. Currently, the Cooperative creates regular jobs for more than 30 workers with an average income of 8 million VND/person/month.

Promoting the exemplary spirit, many veteran cadres and members actively participate in building the movement "Veterans in production and business". Colonel Dao Anh Dung, Vice Chairman of the Veterans Association of Bac Ninh province, said: "In order for the movement to be widely and effectively implemented, the Association at all levels proactively promotes activities, creates conditions for members to connect, exchange and learn experiences, find customers, build product brands; support members to access preferential capital sources; replicate good models and creative ways in economic development".

Over the past 5 years, the Association at all levels has had 190 members awarded certificates of good production and business by the Central Association, and 539 members awarded certificates of good production and business by the Provincial Veterans Association. Typical veterans are: Nguyen Van Vinh, Director of Long Vinh Limited Liability Company, Tu Son Ward; Nguyen Van Hanh, Director of Tan Chau Construction Limited Liability Company, Trung Chinh Commune; Nguyen Gia Khiem, Director of Phat Tich Construction Limited Liability Company, Phat Tich Commune; Tran Van Thu, General Director of Dai Tan Limited Liability Company, Phu Lang Commune; Ngo Ngoc Bich, Director of Hong Ngoc Bich Limited Liability Company, Phu Khe Ward; Tran Van Hung, Director of Hung Thao Mechanical Limited Liability Company, Ngoc Thien Commune; Le Van Thua, Director of Viet Thang Limited Liability Company, Bac Giang Ward; Do Van Quy, Director of Quoc An Concrete and Construction Joint Stock Company, Nenh Ward; Ngo Van Chien, Director of Cuong Thinh Livestock Cooperative, Van Mon Commune... They are not only good at business but also a strong spiritual support for veteran members and the business community and cooperatives.
