Authorities warn that from the evening of September 25-28, the water level on rivers in Bac Ninh province is likely to experience a flood with an amplitude of 2-5m. The flood peak measured at hydrological stations is below alert level 1 to above alert level 1.
Xuan Cam commune authorities inspected the canal system in the area. |
Rising river water levels can cause flash floods, landslides, and rockslides in the province, especially in some ravines, overflows, rapids, and steep slopes along rivers such as in highland communes and low-lying areas. Floods on small rivers and streams that remain high for many days can cause landslides along rivers and affect the safety of riverbank dykes and areas near Thuong, Luc Nam, Cau, and Duong rivers.
However, it is forecasted that from September 27, storm No. 10 will appear in the East Sea, then move northwest, and around September 29 and 30, it is likely to make landfall in the Northern provinces, causing heavy rain. Therefore, authorities recommend that local people continue to check and reinforce construction works and houses to ensure safety; urgently harvest early-ripening rice fields and seasonal vegetables ready for harvest. Agencies, units and localities should strengthen inspection and review of drainage systems in urban areas and industrial zones, proactively clear water flows, and prevent flooding caused by storms and rains.
