The joy of teachers and students in the great forest

Muong Lat Primary and Secondary School is well-invested and ready for the new school year 2025-2026.

At Tam Chung Primary School, Tam Chung Commune, principal Le Xuan Vien shared: “We are maintaining 6 satellite schools and 1 main school. Organizing 2 sessions/day is very difficult if we do not have boarding schools. Many students are often absent in the afternoon, especially during the rainy season.”

Ms. Sung Thi Hoa, a parent whose child is studying at the school, emotionally said: “Before, my child had to go to school far away, so when it rained, he had to stay home, and sometimes he couldn’t go to class in the afternoon. Now that there is a spacious main school with boarding facilities, parents will feel more secure, and their children will also study more fully.” As for Giang A Sung, a 5th grade student, he expressed: “We are very happy because we will soon have a new, spacious school with spacious, clean study spaces. I hope to have a place to stay and eat at the boarding school so that I don’t have to go far to school in the afternoon.”

In reality, the arrangement of school networks in border areas still faces many difficulties. According to Decision No. 2820/QD-UBND dated July 27, 2021 of the Provincial People's Committee on approving the project "Arrangement of kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and multi-level general schools in Thanh Hoa province in the period of 2021-2025", the goal is to reduce the number of separate schools, increase the student/class ratio, and ensure a reasonable scale. However, due to the rugged terrain and difficult traffic, the number of separate preschool and primary school locations in border communes (belonging to the old Muong Lat district) is still large, causing great pressure on teaching and learning.

At Muong Lat Primary and Secondary School, Mr. Nguyen Van Giang, Principal of the school, said: “Thanks to the investment capital from the province, the school has been supplemented with many essential items such as the administrative building, renovated classrooms, and playground. Basically, in the 2025-2026 school year, the school will have 19 classrooms; 2 subject rooms; 3 smart classrooms, basically meeting the teaching facilities according to the new general education program.”

Mr. Ha Van Dung, a parent, shared: “Children in the border areas have a hard time studying. Roads are slippery when it rains and the classrooms are cramped. Now that we have a new school, we are very excited! The whole village encourages each other to send their children to school regularly so that they are not inferior to other places.” And Luong Thi Mai, an 8th grade student at the school, said: “The school has new classrooms and new desks and chairs, so we find studying more enjoyable. I hope there will be more libraries and boarding facilities so we don’t have to travel far and come home late at night anymore.”

According to research, in order to thoroughly implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013 of the 11th Party Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, thanks to capital from Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU dated September 29, 2022 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on the construction and development of Muong Lat district, by 2030, with a vision to 2045, localities have been given priority to invest in synchronous educational infrastructure. The focus is on building main schools with a semi-boarding scale, gradually reducing the rate of separate schools.

Currently, a number of key projects have been and are being implemented such as: Tam Chung Primary School (Tam Chung Commune), Muong Ly Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Muong Ly Commune), Quang Chieu 1, 2 Primary School (Quang Chieu Commune); Muong Lat Primary and Secondary School; Muong Lat Kindergarten... These are projects of practical significance, creating conditions for teachers to feel secure in their work, students to feel secure in their studies, contributing to improving people's knowledge and training human resources for border areas.

With synchronous investments in infrastructure, schools in border communes are gradually overcoming difficulties, affirming their determination to build a solid education system, opening up sustainable learning opportunities for future generations. That joy is multiplied on the opening day of the 2025-2026 school year. On the spacious schoolyard, the red flag flutters, the sound of the opening drum is the radiance of the students, the happy smiles of the teachers and the joy of the parents. The new facilities have made the opening atmosphere warmer, more complete and full of faith.
