On the afternoon of September 25, regarding the reflection of the Lao Dong Newspaper about parents complaining that if they do not let their children study skills, they must pick them up before 3:00 p.m., the leaders of Tan Dong Hiep Secondary School (HCMC) had initial discussions.
Contacting the Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, the school's principal, said that registering to study additional skills subjects at the school is completely voluntary.
"Currently, there are more than 100 students at the school who have not registered for extra skills classes," Ms. Phung informed.
The principal said that the students were supposed to officially start learning these subjects earlier this week. However, because the school is still completing the facilities and teachers are lacking, they have not been able to arrange them yet. It is expected that they will be able to arrange them for the students to learn next week.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung said that today and tomorrow, she will let the children go home late after 4:00 p.m., not 2:50 p.m. like every other day.
"After the students officially started their skills classes, the school arranged for those who did not register to go to the library to read books or have a separate room for them to review. All students finished school at the same time," said Ms. Phuong.
Regarding providing students with additional skills subjects, a leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation said that it is necessary to create fairness for students in accessing these subjects.
According to this leader, in Ho Chi Minh City, the number of children of workers is very large, many of whom have difficult lives, so paying an amount of 500,000 - 1 million VND/month is very large for them.
If we do not let our children study, we are afraid that they will be at a disadvantage compared to their friends or will have to be picked up early. Therefore, we need to research the direction of supporting free skills subjects in schools so that all students can access the necessary skills, so that no child is at a disadvantage compared to their friends.
Previously, reflecting to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , a parent in Ho Chi Minh City said that for nearly a month now, she and her husband have had to take turns taking an afternoon off to pick up their child, because the child has to finish school before 3:00 p.m., while like every year the child attends boarding school until 4:30 p.m.
This causes many difficulties, because most of the school's parents are workers, so it is difficult to ask for time off to pick up their children.
