Nintendo has long been known for its litigation in the gaming industry, according to GadgetMatch . Whenever someone illegally impacts the company's game library, the Japanese gaming giant will surely go after the content creator or moderator of the infringing behavior. And recently, Valve is the latest company to fall victim to Nintendo.

Nintendo asks Valve to remove Wii Dolphin emulator from Steam

Accordingly, Nintendo has filed a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown request with Valve to remove Dolphin from the Steam platform.

Dolphin has long been a household name in the world of emulators. The program allows players to emulate Nintendo titles on PC, allowing some older titles to continue to be used even after their console exclusives expire.

Although the emulator has been around for over 20 years, Dolphin only appeared on Steam this past March. Now, players will lose access to the emulator from Steam.

According to Dolphin's developers, Nintendo filed a takedown request because the way the emulator worked allowed players to use the company's game ROMs without their consent. And this isn't exactly a lawsuit against Dolphin. However, the developers haven't announced how they plan to address the controversy.
