Big explosion in Uzbekistan's capital, Ministry of Emergency Situations sets up investigation team

In the early morning of September 28, an explosion sparked a large fire in a warehouse in Sergeli district, near the airport of Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent.

Sharing on Telegram on September 28, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Emergency Situations (FVV) said that the fire has now been controlled and Tashkent has not recorded any casualties.

However, according to the latest information from the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, there were a number of people injured in the fire and are being treated at local medical facilities. There is currently no specific data on the total number of victims.

After the situation was brought under control, flights to and from Tashkent International Airport resumed normal operations this morning.

According to some sources, the cause of the explosion is believed to be a “strong lightning strike”. However, the Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that it has set up a special investigation team to analyze the explosion in more detail.
