To celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, recently, farmers' associations in Tien Yen commune simultaneously launched Green Sunday, cleaning village roads, alleys, and village cultural houses; clearing bushes, dredging irrigation canals in the fields... This activity attracted over 1,100 members and farmers from all associations to participate.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Chairwoman of the Farmers' Association of Tien Yen Commune, said: Green Sunday activities are regularly maintained by farmers' associations in the commune in coordination with organizations and unions. In addition, the Commune Farmers' Association has also established models for collecting pesticide containers in the fields in Dong Chau, Hong Phong, and Van May villages and aims to expand them to other villages, aiming to raise people's awareness in protecting the environment in residential areas. In particular, 100% of member households and farmers in the commune have signed a commitment to ensure food hygiene and safety in production and business.
Not only the Farmers' Association of Tien Yen commune, but also in many mountainous, border, island and ethnic minority areas, the Farmers' Association at all levels has taken many practical actions to promote the responsibility of members and farmers in participating in environmental protection. For example, in the Co To special zone, the local Farmers' Association has actively implemented contents on environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, climate change response, and protection of the marine and island environment in the Association's activities and the local farmers' movement. Notably, it is necessary to mobilize members and farmers to participate in the project "Co To has no plastic waste"; introduce and guide farmers to participate in environmental protection models, circular economy , green economy. At the same time, effectively implement the model of 3 clean Farmers' Association - clean house, clean road, clean field; Mobilize farmer members to participate in general environmental sanitation, clean up, collect garbage, clear sewers, ditches, and canals, eliminate invasive alien species, plant trees, protect forests, etc.
In the communes of Binh Lieu, Hoanh Mo, Luc Hon, Ba Che, Luong Minh - where there are many ethnic minorities, in previous years, the Farmers' Associations of the localities have actively accompanied the local authorities and organizations to propagate, mobilize and support people to move latrines and livestock barns away from their residences and build hygienic latrines. This has created a breakthrough change in awareness and hygienic lifestyle among ethnic minorities.
Implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU dated May 17, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on sustainable socio-economic development, ensuring solid national defense and security in communes, villages and hamlets in ethnic minority, mountainous, border and island areas for the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, Quang Ninh province identifies environmental protection in ethnic minority areas as a fundamental solution contributing to improving the quality of life and bringing happiness to the people. Accordingly, HND at all levels have also joined in with many ways and models of farmers associated with environmental protection such as: "Beautiful houses, clean roads, clean fields", "Say no to plastic bags and plastic waste", "Collect, classify and process waste and waste into fertilizer at the source", "Collect pesticide packaging"... Through these models, farmers' awareness and behavior are gradually changing, proactively and actively participating in environmental protection from living habits to production. At the same time, contributing to building a green lifestyle in the community and implementing environmental criteria in building new rural areas.
In addition, in order to promote sustainable agricultural development, HND at all levels are also actively mobilizing, guiding and supporting farmers to implement safe and quality production and business models. Currently, in the province, more than 70,100 member households and farmers have signed a commitment not to use banned substances in preservation, processing and safe production, contributing to building a green, clean and sustainable agriculture.
