Thanh Hoa farmers unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty.

In recent years, the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has been focused on and directed by the Farmers' Union (FAU) at all levels of Thanh Hoa province, associated with political - economic - cultural - social activities, with production and life of cadres, members and farmers.

Every year, the Provincial Farmers' Association has developed plans, organized and launched competitions and guided registration for the title of excellent farmer households; coordinated and agreed with the authorities at the same level to organize seminars, competitions, and display products to create a vibrant competitive atmosphere to promote the movement, advised the Party Committee and authorities at the same level to organize summaries, assessments, inspections, supervisions, and commendation and rewards for excellent farmer households. The Association has conducted investigations and surveys on the vocational training needs of farmer members, and at the same time done a good job of vocational counseling and vocational training, creating conditions for farmers to access loans to develop production through credit and trust programs with banks, transferring scientific and technical advances along with indigenous knowledge of growing special plants and animals for high economic value.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the provincial Farmers' Associations at all levels have guaranteed and entrusted banks to lend capital to farmers to develop production and business with a total outstanding loan balance of nearly 17 trillion VND, to over 5,500 lending groups with over 175,000 members and effectively implemented the Farmers' Support Fund reaching over 37 billion VND with 77 projects for nearly 600 households. Every year, the provincial Farmers' Associations at all levels coordinate with departments, branches, units, and enterprises to organize nearly 3,000 training courses on science and technology transfer for more than 350,000 officials, members, and farmers to participate; guided the construction of hundreds of agricultural production models applying high technology and following high technology, associated with building value chains; provided job counseling, propaganda, and mobilized more than 1,700 workers to work abroad. In addition, it has supported training and guidance on good agricultural practices, traceability stamps, and labels for 26 products and directly mobilized and guided the development of 89 OCOP products.

From the movement, many advanced models, excellent examples, and typical representatives of the spirit of hard work, creativity, self-reliance and self-strengthening of the peasant class have emerged. On average, each year, the movement has attracted nearly 300,000 farmer households to register for the emulation and more than 200,000 households have achieved the title of excellent farmer households at all levels, of which, in 2023, the number of excellent farmer households with income from 1 billion VND to 5 billion VND is more than 756 households, and the income from 5 billion VND to 10 billion VND is 279 households.

The movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" has encouraged and motivated members and farmers to promote the tradition of solidarity, mutual love, and help poor households escape poverty in many forms: providing capital, seeds, labor days, agricultural materials, technical guidance, and ways of doing business; sharing the difficulties and losses of people in areas affected by natural disasters such as floods, droughts, and epidemics.

Comrade Tran Binh Quan, Provincial Party Committee member, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, said: In order for the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" to have a new step of development in quality, spreading widely among the people and society, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province will focus on enhancing responsibility in supporting good production and business farmers to continue to maintain, promote and develop more strongly through consulting and support activities. Consulting, legal aid; support in capital, vocational training, transfer of science and technology, connection, brand building and consumption of agricultural products; training, fostering, improving capacity, skills, applying scientific and technical advances in production... to help farmers be more confident in the development process, so that they become the core elements leading the process of realizing the goal of intellectualizing farmers. The HND organization will become a bridge, building trust between farmers, good SDKD farming households with businesses, cooperatives, and scientists to create a sustainable link in the process of agricultural development and new rural construction.
