Farmers compete in good production and business

(BLC) - Recently, the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" in Sung Phai commune ( Lai Chau city) has attracted a large number of farmer members to participate, contributing to strengthening the association's organization and improving farmers' lives.

We visited the family of Giang A Diu in Sin Pao Chai village, one of the pioneers in economic development in the village. Thanks to his dynamism, daring to think, daring to do, especially changing his production mindset, Diu has increased his income from trading agricultural products such as rice, corn, cattle, poultry, and fattening buffalo. This way of doing things has brought his family an income of about 100 million VND/year. Diu shared: Thanks to the propaganda and mobilization of the commune's Farmers' Association officials, I have changed my way of thinking and working, thereby improving the quality of my family's life.

Similarly, Mr. Cheo Lao Lu's family in Cu Nha La village, with raising horses, growing cassava, providing services of leveling rice fields, ponds, growing fruit trees to sell to the market, for many years his family has earned a profit of over 100 million VND/year. Not only developing the economy, Mr. Lu's family also creates jobs for 3 local workers with an income of 2 - 11 million VND/month.

Mr. Lieu A Tinh - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Sung Phai commune shared: The Farmers' Association of the commune always identifies the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" as a major movement that is decisive to the development of the association; creating trust, attracting a large number of members and farmers to participate in the association's activities. In recent times, the Farmers' Association of the commune has constantly innovated the content and methods of operation. Creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere; actively attracting investment sources, cooperating to support members and farmers; boldly introducing new plant and animal varieties into production, applying scientific and technical advances, and supporting capital sources through entrusting with the Social Policy Bank (CSXH) for members and farmers to invest in production development, expand farm scale, and create jobs for surplus labor on the spot.

Every year, the Commune Farmers' Association builds a plan to implement the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably", assigning competition targets to 13/13 branches and launching a widespread movement to 100% of cadres and farmer members associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. Based on actual results, they will evaluate, recognize and propose to recognize households that have achieved the title of good production and business households every year. Up to now, in the commune, there are 62 good production and business households at all levels (of which, 11 households at the city level, 51 households at the grassroots level) with income after deducting expenses reaching from 100 to over 300 million VND/year.

The Commune Farmers' Association actively propagates preferential credit policies according to the loan programs of the Bank for Social Policies, guiding farmer members to build loan projects to solve employment problems, students, poor households, and near-poor households. Up to now, the total outstanding debt is over 8.7 billion VND, maintaining 8 loan programs with 4 savings and loan groups with 176 borrowers. In addition, farmer members in the commune also benefit from preferential loans from the "Farmer Support Fund" with a total amount of 800 million VND for 2 projects, lending to 11 households. Establishing a loan group from the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development with 16 borrowers with a total outstanding debt of 1.3 billion VND.

Continue to maintain the activities of 2 traditional corn wine cooperatives of Gia Khau I, brocade weaving of Sung Phai commune with 24 participating members, activities of 2 professional associations with 24 participating members, and activities of commercial buffalo breeding professional association with 6 participating members.

Along with propaganda and mobilizing farmer members to compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably, the Commune Farmers' Association mobilized 375 farmer members to participate in 12 short-term vocational training classes on poultry farming techniques, safe vegetable growing, macadamia tea growing and care, and brocade weaving. As a result, 100% of students were granted vocational training certificates.

The movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" contributes significantly to promoting rural socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of farmer members and people. Affirming the central role of the Farmers' Association in the cause of socio-economic development in the locality.
