Dedicated female village cadre in the hometown of General Secretary Tran Phu

During 14 years as Party Cell Secretary and Head of the Front Work Committee of Trieu Dong village, Bui La Nhan commune (Duc Tho, Ha Tinh ), Ms. Le Thi Phuong Mai (born 1971) and the villagers have built the poor countryside into a model new rural residential area.

Having grown up from working in the Youth Union and the women's movement, in early 2009, Ms. Le Thi Phuong Mai was elected by the villagers as Party Cell Secretary and Head of the Front Work Committee of Trieu Dong village.

Realizing her role as a "locomotive", Ms. Mai always proactively grasps and tries to convey the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws closer to the people to build their homeland together, especially in building new rural areas (NTM) and developing the economy .

Ms. Mai is always close to the people, actively mobilizing people to respond to local movements, especially building new rural areas.

Ms. Mai said: "Trieu Dong village currently has 325 households (with 1,157 people), of which 36 are Catholic households. In order to help people better understand the policies and guidelines for building new rural areas, I and my colleagues in the village cadre union took advantage of every opportunity to visit each house to learn about their thoughts and aspirations, and mobilize people to work together. In particular, by determining the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect", all work of the village is discussed in a democratic and public spirit."

In addition, to make people believe and follow, Ms. Mai also pioneered in contributing money and labor to build roads and model gardens. Thereby, she contributed to spreading the movement widely in the residential area.

Thanks to that spirit, the people of Trieu Dong village always believe in the leadership and direction of the village party committee and superiors. People always actively respond to local movements, are willing to contribute their efforts and money to build the new rural area, and unite together to build their homeland.

Trusting Mrs. Mai and the village committee, the people of Trieu Dong village always strive to build a prosperous life and a rich and beautiful homeland.

Proof of that is that from 2015 to now, Trieu Dong villagers have contributed over 5 billion VND, thousands of working days and donated over 3,000 ^m2 of land to improve the residential area. The whole village has built 15 model gardens, 100% of the roads are concreted. The village was recognized as meeting the standards of a model new-style rural residential area in 2017; people's lives have been increasingly improved, the average income per capita is currently over 56.1 million VND/year.

For Ms. Mai, that change is thanks to the consensus and determination of all the cadres and people of Trieu Dong village. Ms. Mai shared: "Taking on the village's work, besides being encouraged and supported by my family, I also received the trust and sharing of the people in the village. The previous party members always cared and guided me to strive to mature and complete the assigned tasks well. That is the motivation for me to be more dedicated and contribute more to all movements of the village."

People of Trieu Dong village regularly take part in beautifying residential areas with practical tasks.

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tam - a resident of Trieu Dong village commented: "As the head of the village, clearly understanding her responsibilities, Ms. Mai always tries to learn and listen to the opinions of cadres, party members and people. Therefore, we always support the work proposed by the village, actively support Ms. Mai to complete her tasks, build a clean and strong party cell, and a prosperous countryside."
