With the spirit of helping others, the Hanoi Center for Education and Support for Women's Development, the Hanoi Women Entrepreneurs Club and a number of philanthropists have donated and given gifts of cash, supplies and practical objects to people in flood-affected areas.
"The severe natural disaster left behind painful losses for the community, in which women and children suffered great losses. The pain of losing loved ones, property being swept away, damaged, and no longer having means of livelihood, are extremely big challenges in the places where storm No. 3 passed through," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hao, Director of the Hanoi Center for Education and Support for Women's Development (Hanoi Women's Union).
That is also the reason why the volunteer group of the Hanoi Women's Education and Development Support Center, the Hanoi Women Entrepreneurs Club and a number of donors quickly decided on a donation program for people in flood-affected areas in Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces.
"After 2 days of mobilizing and setting off, although the gifts were not many, they were enough to send the love of Hanoi people to the people in the flooded areas of Lao Cai. Along with cash, the delegation also prepared gifts in kind, including many practical, quality items to help people recover after the storm and flood such as: banh chung, moon cakes, milk cakes, sausages, dry food, dried pork floss, steamed meat, drinking water, roasted peanuts, sesame salt, dry food, instant noodles, milk, towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste and some common disease prevention medicines, clothes, blankets, sanitary napkins, books... The total amount of money and gifts was worth over 230 million VND.
The working group visited and encouraged women and children affected by storm No. 3 in Lao Cai.
With the spirit of helping each other, women in Hanoi and Lao Cai believe in the care and support of the government, local authorities and the community, and stand united to overcome difficulties and overcome the consequences of storms and floods to soon stabilize their lives," Ms. Nguyen Thi Hao added.
At 2:00 a.m. on September 15, the delegation arrived in Lao Cai province and presented gifts at the following locations: Thinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district; Nam Luc commune, Bac Ha district; Thinh Tuong Border Guard Station; Lao Cai General Hospital - where some patients were transferred from Nu village, a village affected by flash floods; and sent gifts to Lao Cai ethnic boarding school - where students lost their loved ones.
The delegation also sent 30 gift bags including books and clothes to flood victims in Yen Bai province.
Meaningful and practical gifts are given
The gifts were donated and sent by Hanoi businesswomen and women with the hope that people in flooded areas will overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and be resilient in overcoming difficulties and moving forward.
