Chu Hong Ngoc - valedictorian of Nutrition, Hanoi Medical University. |
Ngoc decided to retake the university entrance exam quite quickly and only studied for 3 months. Because she knew she did not have enough time and ability to choose Medicine - the major with the highest admission score, Ngoc chose Nutrition after consulting with her seniors. "Before that, I did not understand Nutrition very well, but the more I studied and learned, the more I loved this major," Ngoc confided.
Studying for exams in a short and urgent period of time was not easy for Ngoc. She had to calculate and divide her time to both master the basic knowledge and supplement advanced exercises. At the same time, the COVID-19 outbreak led to social distancing, forcing Ngoc to study at home. However, with diligence and discipline, all her efforts were duly rewarded when she received the admission notice from Hanoi Medical University. Besides the time pressure, Ngoc said that the biggest obstacle was her family's opposition. Because she had passed and studied at a good school, her family did not support Ngoc's risk of retaking the exam. "My parents still did not really believe it even after I had completed the admission procedures to medical school. To prove my choice to them, I tried hard to receive a scholarship in the first semester," Hong Ngoc said. Affirming myself From the first subjects, Ngoc always focused on learning. Every day, she spends at least 5 to 10 minutes reviewing the next day's lesson. She also spends time to consolidate the knowledge she has learned, especially the knowledge that the teacher mentioned but is not in the textbook. "On days when I am more diligent, I will do sets of questions to quantify the knowledge that I have learned that day. Before each review session, I will make a schedule of the lessons I need to study each day and be determined to finish them before going to bed," Ngoc said. She said that she prioritizes studying effectively instead of spending a lot of time studying haphazardly. Therefore, Ngoc always tries to focus so that her study time is short but highly effective. Most of Ngoc's study time is in the evening before going to bed or she takes the opportunity to read the lesson before the teacher enters the class. “70-80% of the basic knowledge has been compiled in detail and fully in the textbook. I just need to stick to the knowledge in it to understand the core, to have a basis to learn more from synthesis documents or external research,” Ngoc said. For the 10x female student, the most effective learning method is to practice perseverance and discipline. When working, she always sets clear goals, divides the goals from large to small, specific and detailed to easily grasp and achieve. Although many times she feels tired and wants to give up, Ngoc always tries to adjust her spirit to overcome. And then when she achieves results, she feels proud and has no regrets for persevering to the end. The female student also especially emphasizes that she should know how to seize every opportunity, and not miss any opportunity that comes to her. “I once had the opportunity to participate in a contest, after that contest I had many other opportunities and even an internship at a large organization. So, whenever an opportunity comes, don’t miss it, but challenge yourself more because who knows, after that opportunity, countless other opportunities and choices will come,” Ngoc shared.Hong Ngoc spoke at the graduation ceremony. |
In addition to studying, Hong Ngoc also participates in clubs inside and outside of school. She actively participates in sports activities such as running races, volunteering and being an organizer for many events and conferences...
Continuing on the path she has chosen, Hong Ngoc said she will continue her postgraduate studies with the goal of becoming a lecturer in the health field. “My biggest dream is to have enough ability, expertise and influence to spread my ambitions and enthusiasm to future generations of students studying Nutrition, contributing a small part of my strength to the cause of improving community health,” Ngoc shared.Tienphong.vn
