“The conversation will be long, but President Trump understands that having the world build AI on the foundation of American technology will help America win this important race,” said Nvidia CEO.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on August 28 that discussions with the White House to allow the company to sell its new generation Blackwell artificial intelligence (AI) chip, which has downgraded features, to the Chinese market will take a long time.

In an interview with Fox Business Network, Mr. Huang affirmed: “The conversation will be long, but President Trump understands that the world building AI based on American technology will help America win this important race.”

Previously, the US leader hinted that he might allow Nvidia to sell a 30-50% capacity-cut version of Blackwell chips in the Chinese market.

The plan comes amid concerns from Washington officials that Beijing could use US AI technology for military purposes, despite Nvidia's efforts to expand its market.

In May, Nvidia developed a line of low-cost Blackwell chips specifically for China.

Due to uncertainty over export policies, Nvidia removed the possibility of selling chips in China from its current quarter revenue forecast, even though the company had previously reached an agreement with the US government to license the export of H20 chips to China, on the condition that it share 15% of sales with the government .

Nvidia has not yet received any orders for the H20 chip line. Mr. Huang said he is willing to consider opportunities to penetrate China's AI market, which is estimated to be worth up to about 50 billion USD./.
