OCB is in the Top sustainable businesses in 2024

With the goal of becoming a pioneer Green bank in Vietnam and persistently pursuing a sustainable development strategy from a very early age, Orient Commercial Bank (OCB ) has received high appreciation and recognition from many prestigious organizations. Recently, OCB continued to be honored in the Top 100 Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam (CSI 100) in 2024.

The Program for Evaluating and Announcing Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam 2024 (CSI 2024) aims to honor enterprises that have performed well in sustainable production and business activities in comprehensive aspects: economic efficiency - corporate governance - society - environment. This year, nearly 500 enterprises registered and submitted documents for review, through which the Organizing Committee has preliminarily selected and selected 142 documents for official evaluation. Passing many strict evaluation criteria, OCB was honored to be in the Top 100 Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam.

This is the 9th year the program has been implemented by VCCI under the direction of the Government, in coordination with the Central Economic Committee, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment , the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. With a tightly organized and scientific evaluation and appraisal process in 3 main stages including: preliminary scoring of documents according to the CSI index set; appraisal through competent agencies; the steering committee approves the proposal of the evaluation council. It is known that the CSI 2024 index set is structured in 6 parts, including 153 indexes. Of which, 62% are compliance indexes, 38% are advanced indexes, aiming to evaluate enterprises in comprehensive aspects: economic efficiency - corporate governance - society - environment. Each index is used to declare a specific content. Every year, the CSI index will update content reflecting important legal changes that Vietnamese businesses need to pay attention to, or new international trends.

Standing out among the group of credit institutions, OCB has implemented a sustainable development strategy aiming to become a pioneer Green Bank in Vietnam many years ago. With stable and effective operations, OCB has continuously received capital funding packages from many international financial institutions such as IFC, DEG... to support small and medium enterprises, female-owned enterprises, prioritizing environmentally friendly and protective fields.

By 2024, OCB has made extremely strong strides in its sustainable development activities. Specifically, in April 2024, it signed a strategic cooperation agreement with IFC on consulting on green banking transformation and digital banking services for retail and SMEs. By September 2024, it pioneered the publication of an independent sustainable development report. In addition, there are a series of specific results in implementing items related to the three pillars of environment, society and governance.

It is known that recently, OCB was also the only bank in the system to receive the 2024 sustainable development report award at the Listed Enterprises Conference. OCB is highly appreciated for its reporting and information disclosure work, not only implementing regulations and good practices on governance and ESG practices but also promoting businesses towards advanced and transparent governance standards.

In the coming time, OCB will continue to promote and develop digital products; Build criteria for green businesses, support and advise businesses and customers to meet the requirements to receive preferential capital funding packages; Diversify products, optimize experiences.
